TD Bank has a coin counting machine in many of their branches. They have tried to be very friendly to both customer and non-customers providing paper currency for coins for free for many years. No more! Several years ago a charge was instituted. But The video screen still say in big letters FREEBut in smaller letters adds "to TD customers".

Below that in tiny letters it says there is a 8% service charge for non-customers. That is up from 6% two years ago. So if you are customer, they pay you 0.05% on your deposit and for tiny interest rate you get to use the Penny Arcade for free. If not, they snag you for 8%.

No wonder people today call bankers  "banksters". Count your change yourself.

Where is the RipOff?

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 23, 2013

They are providing a service.  The fee for this service is 8%, but if you are a customer they waive any service fees. You have a choice, either get an account at their bank, go to another "coin counter" that probably charges at least 8%, or go to your bank that won't charge you any fees.

Perhaps you are you the type of person who goes into a sit-down resturant, orders a glass of water, and after you drink it get up and leave without paying?  After all they give free water to their cusotmers ordering meals so how is that any different than what you are saying the bank should do..right?

What's the ripoff?

AUTHOR: Crucible - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 23, 2013

According to you, they provide a free service to their customers and charge non-customers a fee.   Also according to you, that information is posted on the machine.   I fail to see the ripoff.   Very few businesses provide free services to people who are not their customers.  Why do you think you should be the exception?

You have a couple of choices....

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 23, 2013

 1. Stop using the service as a NON-customer.

2. Become a customer and get the free service.

They don't owe YOU, the non-customer ANYTHING!

No Ripoff here...just you wanting something for nothing....get a life.

No, I DON'T work for them.
