I have never pawn anything in my life but the one time I do, I get ripped off. I got a loan on May 5, 2009 for a necklace and a pendant from The Associated Pawn Brokers on 1851 Pulaski HWY in Edgewood MD, I came back to retrieve the necklace on the 15th , I was then told from an employee at Associated Pawn Brokers that I had to wait 18 days from the date that I got the loan, So I asked him if I could I pick it up next week he said that I can come and pick it up on or after the 4th witch according to the contract, he never told me that I could pick up the merchandise before 4th he just told me that I could pick the merchandise on or after the 4th I never actually sat there and observed what he had sad because I was in a hurry, but now that I look back at the situation, 18 days from the 5th is what the 23rd. well why didn't he say you could pick up the merchandise between the 23rd and the 4th well it dawn on me that he knew that I would be back after the due date because he told me anytime on or after the 4th so when I can in on the 6th to retrieve the merchandise he told me that they had already sent the necklace and pendant off to be scrap for gold and that I had missed the due date. I am so pissed about this because the guy took advantage of the 18 day Maryland law to mislead me in to thinking I couldn't retrieve my necklace and pendant before the due date also the contract does not state if you don't pick up the merchandise before the due date that the merchandise would be sold or scrapped for gold. I just wonder how many other people have had this same problem I called the police and they said that they had been called here to the pawn shop for the very same reason before but there was nothing they could do about it. This pawn shops need to be shut down for misleading customers, and drawing up a misleading contracts.

Hi, I'm the owner of The associated pawn brokers LLC. Just to make this short and concise, All customers are told the same thing You have to wait 18 days before you can pick your jewelry transaction up due to Maryland law. However you can pick up the merchandise any time after the 18 days and you have up xx date to pick the merchandise up. Which from what this customer has said would be the 4rth. You state you were in a hurry and not really paying attention. It is not our fault you did not listen to what was said but I'm here every day they all say the same things when they sign up your transaction to make sure it's concise and clear. Why would you think it's ok to come back after a due date? That means it's due at that point. IF BGE sends a turn off notice it doesnt mean a few days later you can pay it. I do not mean to sound offensive Its the only clear similar situation I have to compare it to. We melt $40,000 in gold per month. Every mourning we do a melt of bought gold thats damaged and or not within current styleing. So if you didn't call to let us know you were going to be late, we figure you just arn't comeing back like the other 60% per month of transactions that are not picked up from cars to electronics to jewlery. It would of been handled like any other delinquent pawn. We do not send off to "scrap for gold" as well we melt on premisis and refine at one of our storage locations due to the chemicles that need to be used. Also in response to your statment "the contract does not state if you don't pick up the merchandise before the due date that the merchandise would be sold or scrapped for gold." If you pick it up on or before your due date the gold is kept in bags in the vault and handed back to you. If you do not return by your due date and the merchandise becomes delinquent you did not excercise your rites to purchase your merchandise back then we have the rite to sell or do whatever to the merchandise to recoup the money we lent you that was not paid back by the due date. The ticket is very descriptive of this. As well thats how all pawn shops work. I would suggest reading your ticket and not being in a hurry, you say verbatum "I never actually sat there and observed what he had sad because I was in a hurry" If you didn't observe what was said and listen then how did he mislead you , you clearly said you didn't listen. We do a minimum of 30 transactions a day. 48 to 60% of the loans made per month are redeamed depending on which month. So even 48% of a minumum of 900 transactions a month (432 people) pick up there merchandise with no issues and they are told the same things. Before you try and discredit us please be more accurate in your statments.
