I went to Tire kingdom on 06/09/10 for a oil change and the 22 point inspection they offer with you oil change. Well when i went out to my car the next day i had a huge oil leak. So I called them on my way to work and they told me to bring my car back in. I did that when i got off work. They took my car in the back and put it on the lift and told me that the oil leak was from a seal and that my cv joint was broke.. Just as you are I was surprised by this. I was just there yesterday and went throw a 22 point inspection. I ask did they not do the inspection and we went to look at the from and it was blank.. I then ask did they notice that my cv joint was broke and the mechanic reply yea I did. I then ask why was it not brought to my attention and was told they didn't know.. that's just not right you endanger my life and other people life. How many people go to tire kingdom for the inspection??? I DO.... Please stop offer the 22 point inspection before you cause someone to get hurt are killed

just an update

AUTHOR: Bill d - (U.S.A.)

i posted a post on this thread--i said some things---such as being lied to about pay---i called payroll and it turns out they made a mistake and something wasn't entered into the system---they paid me the back pay of what they owe and the issue is resolved---a manger posted on here talking about cutting labor time to make a sale---if need be--so be it--i accept this fact---but others may not

#2 UPDATE Employee

somewhat happy employee

AUTHOR: big rig - (United States of America)

ive worked for TK for 15 years off and on. i have enjoyed working there for the most part. if your not making the money for what your doing then somthing is def wrong. since the new pay plan i have found that some mgr are cutting labor time to make the sale. for example if a front strut job calls for 3.3 hours they will cut it down to 2.0 that is a loss of 40.00 in our pocket. best thing to do is look up your own labor time and make sure your getting paid that . it is co. policy to pay techs what is owed them according to new pay plan. if they have to discount to make sale thats fine because it doesnt effect us. As for the origanal report in the store i work at we check all cust cars and yes we reccomend add on services as per milage. But there are some situation that happen where we can miss somthing because we are busy or new employee  worked on your car and wasnt sure what to look for. no one in any bussness is perfect. The fact that they failed to sell you a c/v axel when you first got there is there loss.  Dont think your life was ever in danger . it takes time for axel to even start making noise after the boot breaks. somtimes mts. where they wrong to point it out the first time? absolutly. hopefully they will learn from there mistakes and the mgr will take action.

Bill d makes a point..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

If the CV joint was actually broken, the vehicle would not be drivable. I know this because I had a 1970 Cadi Eldorado and the CV joint broke causing loss of steering because one of the front wheels was no longer connected to the axle. So something in the report is not adding up and I missed it the first time. Granted they should have told you if the boot was broken as it can of course lead to failure. So the complaint is still technically legit since this should have been noted on the invoice form if the 22 point inspection was actually done. Perhaps it was a disgruntled mechanic and he simply did not care so the 22 point was actually change the oil... and that's it.

It sucks to hear what you are going through Bill with Tire Kingdom, I do not know how they expect you to live on that kind of net pay, I wouldn't even be able to make my rent on that. Hopefully when your license is straightened out you will have better opportunity elsewhere.

this is funny

AUTHOR: Bill d - (U.S.A.)

i think you are blowing things out of proportion and it is funny--the sad part is--you are not the only one----you are talking about your life being in danger??--why??---cause they told you later your cv axle was broke and they didn't mention it when the oil was changed??---just a background but i have been working at tire kingdom for a little over a month now----anyway---when they say your cv axle is broke- this means the boot on the axle is broke and it is leaking the grease--the axle itself is not broke-however--if you continue driving like this all the grease will leak out and after the grease leaks out then the axle will fail--you will usually hear noises and things of this nature when it does---so basically---you didn't hear any noises or anything and felt nothing wrong-now all of a sudden your life is in danger???----LOL LOL---now--i will agree with ronny g here--the point of this inspection is to upsell work--in rare cases i have found a wheel bearing with some looseness and required replacement(it will get worse over time)---now also--with this inspection--i check all the fluids--if it is dirty i write it down---the store i am at he wants me to recommend fluids based on miles--in other words if i see the power steering fluid looked good i have to write it up based on miles---there is a difference between dirty fluid and recommended by mileage----anyway--just to give you a background of a tire kingdom mechanic--there is the tire techs and mechanics--i am a mechanic---when hired i was told they will pay me 23$ per flat rate hour as i am certified in a couple areas(matter as fact the only certified person in my shop)---so for a mechanic--it is in there best interest to look for work(the 22 point inspection)---i soon found out i was lied to about the 23$ an hour--i was also told i would be guaranteed 400 a week---i was lied to about that to--i had another job that paid 10 an hour at good year and took the job at tire kingdom cause the guy told me they will guarantee me the 400 a week(which is what i would have made at goodyear)and that if i clock many hours i can make more than the 400-so now here i am--replacing wheel bearings and hubs(skilled labor)-shocks and struts-diagnostics and brakes/cutting rotors and for 2 weeks i was paid 377 net???--we get paid every 2 weeks--my next pay was 550 net for the 2 weeks????--the point i am making is maybe this mechanic probably felt he wasn't getting paid for his work anyway and just said f*** it---i calculated it and in actuality i am getting paid 6.50 an hour and i am there for around 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week--50 clock hours--it is also my understanding there is a very high turnover rate for mechanics at tire kingdom probably for this reason--i got my first check which was for 1 week and i clocked 26 flag hours and was paid 250 net---the next week i flagged 28 and the week after 42--somehow for a total of 70 flag hours i get paid 377 net for 2 weeks--i keep getting blown off by the manager-----now-you may ask--why am i there--my driver licesnse has speeding tickets and cannot get a job at a dealer--my license will be clear in a little less than a year---if things continue--i will leave--as a mechanic--all you can do is learn and keep learning so you may be better at your next job--i just prefer to stay cause i am tired of bouncing around----in any case--i hope i educated you a little bit cause with all due respect--you just sound stupid talking about your safety  and endangering your life--on another note--tire kingdom is focused to much on the customer and to me,no one will agree-but this is not a good way to do business

There is a purpose and INTENT for this inspection..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

And believe me, it has nothing to do with you or your families safety.

It is so they can rip you off with 22 possible means for unnecessary repairs.

Since they stood to make money from doing a CV joint repair, I highly doubt they left this off the form with intent. They just messed up because they are inept and careless.

I HIGHLY recommend you go to a real mechanic and have the vehicle inspected before anyone is really put in danger. I would rather shove hot pokers into my eyes then have Tire Kingdom touch my car, even for something as elementary as an oil change.
