I have lived in several areas in the US over the years and have had a problem with taco bell in every location. Taco Bell (when they get the order correct) is among my favorite fast food places but I now usually pass on them because they screw up my order about 80% of the time.

My main problem with them is that I like alot of cheese and sour cream on Mexican food and if it's not there, for me it is not even worth consuming. Everytime I order at taco bell, I always tell them I want extra cheese and extra sour cream on everything. I even started telling the person at the counter (or speaker) that they must make sure that my extra cheese and sour cream are added to my order, because they always screw it up. I can tell some of them get annoyed that I stress that I want my order done right for a change, but even after all that, I still only get a decent amount of cheese and sour cream about 20% of the time, if that. Usually I get a few sprinklings of chedder cheese and no sour cream, but I ALWAYS get charged for it. Of course I could dig thru my bag at the drive thru after each order, and check my food as the drivers behind me honk their horns and reach for their handgun. Not to mention if I have them fix my order, chances are my food will be given extra mucus as well, as this is the sort of juvenile behavior that you might expect from an employee of taco bell. Sometimes they do get my order wrong in other ways like giving me chicken soft tacos instead of steak, but this dosent bother me as long as the thing has enough cheese and sour cream to be edible for me.

This probably seems like whining and trivial on my part, but I am being charged for something I am not getting on a consistent basis from this company. The food presented in their commercials look nothing like what you usually actually get. In the commercials, a taco bell taco is piled high with cheese, in reality your lucky if you get any at all, even if you order extra cheese.

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

The nachos used to be pre-made, just as you buy in the store. They only had to be put under heat to be used. Now they think if they bring in the uncooked, floppy-***** they will be better. They are not. They have caused the deterioration of that particular product, and added yet another task to their employees (fying those damned dog-ear chips) that suck. If they'd leave well enough alone, at least someone could have the time to be CLEANING UP FECES FROM DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMERS.

Feces in the sink?! Can't understand how those got there...

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

I can understand how someone could be angry enough about being shorted on the dairy products to deposit their feces in the Taco Bell sink. But I can't understand how they mangaged to get out of their vehicle and into the bathroom to do it, when they won't go in to confirm or correct their order.

I worked at a Taco Bell. I saw an angry man throw a burrito at a manager as hard as he could one night. I also saw someone dig jalapenos out of the trash to satisfy an order as well. The peppers came in (do they have jalapenos any more?) a gallon or so can, and couldn't be kept for the next day. During closing, they had been prematurely thrown out, and someone didn't want to open another gallon for the people who ordered extra peppers. Those drunks had trash peppers that night, much to my dismay. But I was merely a disrespected mop pusher, what was my opinion worth?

And I'll tell you this. Go check out one of the empty cardboard boxes that the 'beef' comes in, if you can, when they take the trash out. It does not meet USDA standards as a full serving of meat. That's because it's blended with oatmeal. Odd, because I will not have ground beef from Taco Bell. It always has gristle in it, and I'm scared to death I'll bite down on that and chip a tooth. Disgusting!

A very good point

AUTHOR: Rocky - (U.S.A.)

I quote:

If you have never worked a fast food job, you should. I think that it should be legally required that everyone should have to work a fast food job for at least 6 months of their lives. it would teach people some respect and common decency. These employees have to be kind and courteous to even the biggest assholes, make the food correctly and serve it with a smile in under 2 minutes.

It's not as easy as it sounds. My employees have had to clean feces out of the bathroom sink because someone thought it would be a cute prank. they are harassed by drunken customers and most of the time have to smile and pretend it didn't happen. It is unfair to assume that the employees are incompetant, immature or stupid because you disagree with our portioning.

These people work minimum wage. You can't expect the same service as a five star restaurant. How ever I do see your point. They probably are bitter about making minimum wage and don't care about these fat people who want 25 tacos who wants no lettuce on 3 and extra beans on 5 of them and extra lettuce on all of them. Put yourself in thier shoes and think about your order and the poor minimum wage worker whos been behind a hot stove all day! I think you would be exhausted and not care. OH, and to the person who said "if you don't like your job, quit." Let me tell you something, finding a job isnt easy. Plus fast food may be the only job you can get, not everyone can afford college, not everyone lives in a stable home life and has the decent enough living conditions to do homework, study for the exit exam, etc. Not everyone can just quit thier job and search for a new one every day. You have to keep that job just to survive. Its hard working a minimum wage job trying to support you and your family, it really is. Can you expect wolfgang puck service now?! NO! Restaurants I can expect good service, but jeez its TACO BELL! I find Del Taco, Mcdonalds, and Taco bell a disgust, Been sick off McDonalds past five times I've ate it. Taco bell is good, but also, ITS FAST FOOD! They don't have time to hand cut your lettuce and have you come inside and check how much cheese you want. The Taco Bells around here don't screw up my order, but who knows how it is in other states. I just want you people to understand not everyone can just quit thier job and find a new one, not everyone has a college degree or high school diploma and doesn't make 100 grand a year and can't just run out and quit thier job.

Don't make me laugh

AUTHOR: Diana - (U.S.A.)

Let me get this right.....you're complaining because you aren't getting enough cheese and sour cream?

Instead of coming to this site, and claiming Taco Bell is "ripping you off", DO something. I realize it's a lot of hard work to go into the store and ask to speak to the manager, but you know the old saying, "if you want something done right, do it yourself."

There is no reason for you to call Taco Bell employees "idiots", when I can tell you that I have managed a Taco Bell location, and my IQ is that of 142, which probably no doubt exceeds yours.

If not getting enough cheese and sour cream bothers you THAT MUCH, call 1-800-TACO-BELL and file a complaint. Or better yet, go buy some sour cream for $1.00 and put it on there yourself. God forbid they give you what you want, because then you'd complain about it being "too much."

A simple resolve for the extra sour cream/cheese guy...

AUTHOR: Timmy - (U.S.A.)

Do what I do. Go to the super market. Buy a $0.99 tub of sour cream and $1.50 bag of shredded cheese. This should last for about 2 weeks, and your tacos will be plentiful with the good stuff that makes your mouth water. This way you dont have to wait after your order, and you can have the creamy cheesey happiness you so desire.

A little story about complaints

AUTHOR: Angel - (U.S.A.)

I too have had several problems with the Taco Bells.. in more than one location. I like extra cheese and extra sour cream as well, and I ask for it. Its entertaining to be sitting at my car in the drive through and say "I would like a soft taco, extra cheese, extra sour cream"... and have to argue with them over it being a supreme taco with no tomatos. Trivial really. Also a few times I have had missing nachos or missing cinnamon twists.

But for my story, I got it from my co-worker. We work for an alarm monitoring central station in police & fire dispatch, midnight shift, so sometimes its slow. She told me one night of her terrifying adventure to a taco bell.

She had gone to taco bell on university avenue in champaign, right next to dairy queen. She wanted to get two tacos for her husband and hop on over to DQ to get a blizzard for herself. While waiting in line at taco bell the woman in front of her was arguing with the woman at the counter because the taco salad she ordered wasnt right. The lady working the counter was all angry and told her to give the taco salad back and she would make another one.

The woman said no she just wanted to go home so she could just give her the money back and she would leave, but they wouldnt do it. The taco bell employee then started threatening the woman saying she would clock out right then and there and meet her in the parking lot and the lady "didnt know who her family was". Luckily the manager got her to calm down but a good 15 mins had passed with my co-worker waiting in line. She left to go get her DQ first and went back and still had a good five min wait after all of that to get just two tacos.

Its a shame the way fast food and customer service is heading these days. Everyone feels like they are getting scammed, which is even more of a pity that we cant feel safe where we eat, like the strings here about poisonings at McDonalds, or unsanitary bathrooms.

Food service has gone down terribly in quality, and I dont want to hear about its how the employees are paid. I would never take it out on a customer for being under paid or whatever, I did take my job knowing how much I would be making.

What ever happened to "service with a smile?" if you dont like your job - get a new one. I for one love my job working as a dispatcher, and though the customers cant see my smile, its there. I take pride in helping people or protecting them... just as much as people should take pride in fixing a meal for a large family, or satisfying the sour cream/cheese cravings of a late night muncher.

I agree that something has to be done...

AUTHOR: Carol - (U.S.A.)

I can see why a lot of people are upset about the product & service at Taco Bell. I visited one in Woonsocket, RI, a few years ago and bought a 10-peice box of soft tacos. I took them home to my family and, on the first taco, found a dead flying insect mixed in with the lettuce.

After bringing them all back (luckily no one had a chance to eat any) I was refunded but only after I insisted on the cash refund as they wanted to just replace that one taco. Ew!

A week later, they had a banner outside of the building stating that "If you don't like it, we'll eat it!" I wish that was there a week before!

Be fair!

AUTHOR: Isha - (U.S.A.)

I am a manager at a taco bell and I would like to say that I agree with the cheese portioning and the sour cream. sometimes it doesn't seem like enough, but that is a complaint about the people making the rules not the "idiots" that follow them.

If you have never worked a fast food job, you should. I think that it should be legally required that everyone should have to work a fast food job for at least 6 months of their lives. it would teach people some respect and common decency. It is unfair to assume that the employees are incompetant, immature or stupid because you disagree with our portioning.

Also, our food is not pre-made... in most of our stores you can watch as they make it. I apologize for your bad experiences but it is unfair to assume that just because some stores have managers that don't stress customer service that the entire chain is the same way.

1800 taco bell is the head quarters number, if possible save your ticket with all the info and call them. Actuly all the fast food places have a highest level thats what they are there for. Call them, be polite, it is not the one on the phones fault, keep it simple and have a realistic idea about what they can and will do for you.

Cheese and Lettuce

AUTHOR: Dallas - (U.S.A.)

I see a lot of you have responded about how little cheese there usually is on the tacos, and yeah that bothers me too and I work there.

I try to put more cheese than the managers tell me to on the tacos, because when I see my GM make them, she only puts a pinch on. She usually removes a good bit of the cheese I put on what I'm making and adds more lettuce.

When I asked her one day why she did this, she told me that cheese costs more than lettuce, and unless they ask for extra cheese, that's what they will get.

I still try to put a good bit on when she's not around though. They didn't order a salad.

Oh, and as far as this "chances are my food will be given extra mucus as well, as this is the sort of juvenile behavior that you might expect from an employee of taco bell." comment goes...we don't spit in your food, at least not at my store. At our Taco Bell (and many others) you can clearly see the people making the food. No one is going to spit in your food in plain view.

Taco Bell is a rip off!

AUTHOR: Brieanna - (U.S.A.)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and here is mine. I agree that Taco Bell does rip you off when it comes to cheese and sour cream. Someone above stated that food portions are pre-measured on tacos to one quarter of an ounce. Well, how many tacos do they think they are making when they put 10lbs of lettuce on it and 2 stands of cheese. I always ask for extra cheese just to get enough to actually taste it. I have decided finally to stop getting lettuce so I can maybe get some more cheese on it. I did take this to a manager at my local Taco Bell and in return received a free meal which was more than I expected but I was happy with their response to my problem. I have never worked in fast food restaurants and never intend to. I just see it as what does it take to work at Taco Bell? It's a taco! It isn't that hard to make...it doesn't take a scientist to figure it out. When it says -no lettuce- dont put any on...it's asking them to do one less thing...not too difficult really.

Do something about it- or don't complain!

AUTHOR: Christina - (U.S.A.)

To the writer of the original report(the one who is too chickens**t to give their name!) If you have had so many problems with the company why do you continue to eat there?

I don't know where you live that you feel that people will pull a gun on you while you check your order, but if you sit right in front of the window and don't pull up then I don't necessarily blame them! Fast food restaurants are often busy and send food out quickly so they do often get orders wrong, so if you are continually experiencing this problem then why do you keep leaving and waiting until you get home to realize your order is incorrect?! Just pull forward so the people behind you don't have to wait on you to look for your three pounds of cheese and sour cream and check your order.

If it is incorrect then either go inside, or pull back through the drive-thru, if this is too much of an inconvenience for you- then don't complain!!!! And if all that cheese and sour cream is really that big of an issue for you then stop ordering(and paying for it) at the restaurant and add it on at home where you can be cure and get the amount you want!

Ohio Taco Bell

AUTHOR: Kasey - (U.S.A.)

In Ohio years ago in my teenage years we went there frequently. Not once was my order ever correct and we got to the point where we just paid the price accepted it. I went through a vegatarian stage and once ordered tacos without the meat and the women working the counter condemned and lectured me because of it saying I was using my parents money and wasting it without the meat. So offended I never went back again until about 3 months ago approx 10 years later. The guy working the drive through was actually curtious and for the first time in years MY ORDER WAS EXACTLY THE WAY I WANTED IT! It was a miracle! I even called my friend and informed her of this giant feat! Althought 3 shards of cheese is not enough for a taco and I could have done without the massive amount of lettuce. I wish I would have taken the guys name down and commented on how well he did but I wasn't expecting it!

Sorry if you misunderstood me...

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

The tomato growers in Florida that I was speaking of do actually (almost) exclusvely supply Taco Bell. They are not a part of Taco Bell or PFS per se, but they are a major supplier. Taco Bell maintains a great deal of control over how much the growers can charge for their product, because if the price goes up they will seek another source. In other words, Taco Bell has the growers by the balls and actively prevents them from raising their wages, and has done so for decades. Read into it.

Do a google search on "Imokalee tomato growers" and you'll probably find some articles that can provide more info than I can. Per the corn- first, I didn't say that Taco Bell sucks because they pick their corn by hand (did you actually read my rebuttal?)

I was not trying to show how the product is harvested, but how the people who do the harvesting are treated, whether they do it by hand or with machines.

I'm not a moron, I know we're not picking corn by hand anymore, I may have misstated myself earlier, but wage increases for agricultural employees, which prompted an increase in price, was in fact the root cause for TBs switch to white corn.

I'm surprised to see that you, a self proclaimed farmer in corn country, feel this is not an important issue (hundreds of yellow corn growers seemed to think this was an important issue when they marched on PFS headquarters two years ago), and that a crappy taco is a more valid reason to despise a company then is the exploitation of thousands of agricultural employees.

Tim, Taco Bell sucks but not because of the way corn is picked.

AUTHOR: Farmer John - (U.S.A.)

Tim, I don't think Taco Bell has their own farms that grow tomatos just for them and I live in the heart of corn country and can tell you we do not use hand labor to pick corn? They have machines that do that and they work pretty good.

Taco Bell sucks but not because of the way corn is picked.

One more reason to avoid Taco Bell

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

I was actually an employee of Taco Bell for four years (this was a long time ago) and out of all the employment situations I've been in, including several other restaurants, Taco Bell was by far the worst employer.

Their treatment of the minimum wage taco stuffers is not so bad, however, when compared to the way they treat the agricultural employees who harvest their corn and tomatoes.

The reason your crunchy tacos haven't been so crunchy lately is because a couple of years back Taco Bell switched from using yellow corn to white corn. They claimed that this was due to a shortage of yellow corn. Anyone living in the midwest of this country will tell you that if there is anything we are NOT short of,its yellow corn. The real reaon they switched to white corn was because the growers of yellow corn, faced with a migrant labor strike because they hadn't raised wages in almost twenty years, had to pay their pickers more money, and thus charge more for their product.

Taco Bell, not wanting to pay a little more so that people could attain something close to a decent standard of living, opted instead to utilize a different market, at the expense of food quality.

A similar situation is happening right now with the Imokalee tomato pickers in Florida, who are the sole providers of Taco Bell tomatoes. They are currently paid about 35 cents per twenty pound bucket, a wage that has not increased since the late 70s. These migrant laborers are currently supported by a nationwide network of fair labor organizations that have repeatedly brought this situation to the attention of Taco Bell and PFS corporate offices, but to no avail.

Sooner or later the Florida tomato growers will have to give their workers what they deserve. How will Taco Bell make up for this loss? Probably genetically engineered tomatoes.

All Taco Bells Have Went Down Hill

AUTHOR: Joshua - (U.S.A.)

All taco bells have went down hill. I normally dont respond unless its something or a company that has done me really wrong. Taco Bell Has. I use to eat at taco bell at least twice a week, that is until the last 3 years. Crunchy taco are suppose to be CRUNCHY!!! If you dont understand that word please look it up before you apply to taco bell. I've tried to go to Taco bell maybe 5 times in the last year HOPING thy have changed. I have been terribly let down. They Pre-make crunchy tacos so when you get them they are soft. That Sucks!!!

But the final straw was on my VERY LAST VISIT EVER to TACO BELL. I ordered 3 Crunchy Tacos and a Un-Sweet Ice Tea. What I got Were 3 mushy taco's and a 1/2 filled super sized drink. I was like weres the rest of the drink. They said "Well were out" I asked them to make some more but was told they couldnt do that. I asked for a refund for the drink and was told i would have to come back the next day and talk to the manager. Could you believe that. I was doing work in that area for that day only. What a joke!

Find a good Mexician restraunt and goto them. Stop going to Taco Bell. Businesses that treat thier customers bad will some day lose all thier customers and go out of business.

What gives you the right!!!!

AUTHOR: Glenn - (U.S.A.)

What gives you the right to make comments like "chances are my food will be given extra mucus as well, as this is the sort of juvenile behavior that you might expect from an employee of taco bell." You have rightful statements to back up what you say.

Hey let me tell you that I am sorry that you have had bad experiences but, that ignorant statement is way more immature than any employee I have ever worked with in. Ignorance....

to label people and a multi-million dollar company because, of a bad experience you had at one of their stores.I didn't see how much cheese was on your taco but, I'm here to tell you that food portions are pre-measured on tacos to one quarter of an ounce.

Extra cheese would make it one half of an ounce...... which isn't very much. It's not the employees fault, they are just following orders and what they had been taught.

As for the sour cream....that is a legit complaint. That store I am sure needs a lot of restructuring it sounds like.I agree with you there but, do not label people that work at Taco Bell is "immature" and basically demeaner them.I live very comfortably.... have a 2 story house, wife and a son who I love very much....a new car and a new truck and just think all on a low life immature Taco Bell job budget...

thank you sir and good day!!!!!!!!!!
