Just do your due diligence

POSTED: Sunday, April 18, 2010When we arrived at the Welcome Center, we had no problem and we received all items, as agreed. The only additional fee we paid was the $24 hotel room tax for all four nights. The room was alright, certainly not hotel quality and about like a 3 star hotel, but the downstairs area was a showpiece. Indoor and outdoor pool, video arcade, karaoke bar, several restaurants where you could get free breakfast and dinner. Proximity to Orlando and the amusement parks (we were actually in Kissimee). The timeshare 4 bedroom suites made our hotel room look a little dinky. I could see how it'd be comfortable for a large group. The downer was that a 2 hour presentation ended up being almost all day when all was said and done. Luckily, my husband and I agreed that we would say no, no matter how much we were pressured. Unfortunately, some people weren't that strong. What I found telling is that our salesperson basically told us they offer these low cost vacations mainly to herd people in, and if they manage to sell a couple of timeshares, they've paid for the cost of the vacation packages. After we didn't budge, our salesperson, who brought us in a car, left us stranded at the sales center, but luckily a shuttle took us "losers" back to the hotel.
I can't speak for Take a Break Las Vegas, but I can't complain about our accommodations. In fact, that trip is one that my family all fondly remembers. Just do your due diligence. Because I had such a positive experience with that trip, I was lulled into agreeing to take a low cost cruise with another company. I have no idea what possessed me to do it. I really wish I had read about that other company before continuing to fork over money. Since that company has had a class action suit filed against it and several states have successfully won the right to participants getting a full or partial refund of payments, I'm going to try to see what I can do.
