I switch to Talk America because I wanted to save a few bucks monthly. BIG MISTAKE. This is the worst company ever. Please Stay Away. Fist of all, their customer service is the most negligent department that I ever seen. They are very impolite and they always tried to confuse you with some kind of mambo jambo technical stuff. One day one of them says one thing about the status of your account and the very next day another representative said a completely different story.
They advertise a monthly charge of $19.95 . DON'T THINK SO. They forgot to tell you that in overcharges, takes, fees, and magical spellwhatever... They are going to charge you another $20. So if you add everything you will pay almost $40. If you compare that with Bellsouth you will conclude that is better to stick with a much bigger company.
I came back to Bellsouth on December 7 2004. My last Talk America invoice (for nov 28 through dec 27) was paid ($40) on December 18. SECOND BIG MISTAKE. In other words I paid them for a service from December 8 through December 27 that they never supply. Yeah I know.what a moron I was.
When I realize this situation I called (January 7) and I asked for my refund.Today February 4 after several calls and emails I haven't receive any buck back. The worst part is that they are going to refund me a ridicules amount because they said that taxes, fees, overcharges and other mambo jambo are not refundable I don't know if that is legal but it looks very suspicious to me I think the IRS will be very interested in an auditory.
I'm really annoyed not only because of that, but because they lie to me constantly. They said we already sent you a check on that date and when I call weeks later another Clown told mesorry, but my computer shows that we haven't sent you any check yet and they have the nerve to add I'm going to place a memo or something, so your check will be rush Bullshit.
And you want to know how much they will charge me for that 10 days service (from November 28 to December 7)? $26!!! So in other words they are going to refund me (supposedly) only $14!!!! WHAT A RIP OFF.
To be honest, after two or three calls they agree to pay me another buck, so now I'm waiting for a $15 refund. The point here is not the money (even though I'm sure the fair thing will be $ 25 instead of $15) the point is how come they abuse you and get away with so many irregularities.
In conclusion, please never even think in switch to this company. It will be the worst mistake that you ever could made.
