A couple years ago, (when Obama entered office) the credit card companies were allowed to double their scheduled monthly payments to their cardholders.  Having several cards and being on a fixed income (and Obama refusing social security a raise for several years) I was unable to make the large amounts of monthly payments for each card.  Every card company worked with me to set up a plan of payment except Target National.  Now for the 3rd year, Target National has now contracted with the 3rd debt management company (attorney based) to try and collect my monies.  Note that I called them trying to set up an alternative arrangement, but these companies refuse to accept my payment.  I have never in my life witness such rude, unacceptable business behavior and they continue to add late payments to the account.  Yes, they have now added thousands of dollars just by refusing to accept an adjusted payment.
I will never shop at Target or encourage anyone to shop at Target due to this ordeal.    It is really strange that nobody seems able to give me the CEO's name of Target National or their location.  Actually it has been my honor to share this information with others in order to promote shopping at another retail store.  Let's see if the public can make Target close the doors within the next 7 years.  Get the word out.

Charls,

The current unemployment rate is about 8.3% of the labor force. Why do you think half of them are unemployed?

Not true

AUTHOR: Diogenes - (USA)

Charles, you incredible moron, how can you possibly say that the "Republicans" are responsible for this, as if one political party can possibly be blamed ??  For example, the President of the United States is a DEMOCRAT.  The Vice President is a DEMOCRAT.  The Secretary of State is a DEMOCRAT.  The DEMOCRATS are in control of the US Senate. There are 193 DEMOCRATS in the US House of Representatives.  And in spite of this you have the supreme ignorance to state that the Republican party is to blame for all of your self-inflicted problems ??  Just how stupid can one person be ?????  You are definitely the "Gold Medal" winner in the "STUPIDITY" category, aren't you ??

By the way, Chuckle-head, just WHERE did you earn your degree in Economics ??  WHERE did you earn your degree in Political Science ??  In fact, where did you earn ANY degree ???  Oh....I forgot....you were KICKED OUT of high school, weren't you, you illiterate little goof ???

We don't need you sticking your enormous proboscis in a subject of which you have absolutely NO knowledge.  The only thing you know how to do is SKIP OUT on paying your bills, you DEADBEAT !!!  You don't even have a job, do you ??  NO !!

So, you have no job and no education in this area and you don't even pay your bills.  What good are you ???  NONE !!!  Therefore you have absolutely NOTHING to contribute to this report. So why don't you just GET LOST and go eat your bale of hay and then take a nap in your stall, Donkey-boy.

As other said, nothing is related to the president. If you want to blame someone for your debt, blame yourself.

The minimum payment for credit card has been increased because the previous minimum payment from the law does NOT help the people who owe the credit card company but rather keep cumulate the interest. The old amount was around 2% of the the current balance, and the new one is 4%. The new amount should actually help you paying the debt faster. Have you ever done maths? I guess not... An example I found online is as follows:

Lets assume your card has an interest rate of 18 percent and a balance of $5,000, and that youll never make another purchase on the card. With a 2 percent monthly payment (which initially would be about $100, falling eventually to a minimum of $10), it would take a little over 46 years to pay off, and youd shell out over $13,000 in interest! But if you paid 4 percent of the balance each month (initially about $200), you would retire the same debt in just over 12 years, paying less than $3,000 in interest. [http://www.lendingtree.com/credit-cards/advice/using-credit-cards/credit-card-minimum-payments/]

Remember, the interest rate is very low in the example (18%), and that is quite a simple maths.

Because you think you are entitle to get a payment plan, you blame it on the creditor. You are trying to reduce the money you are supposed to pay. Who did actually get the benefit from your action? You and all you. The creditor lost their money in the first place and you got the product. Then later you wanted them to keep forgiving you for your own mistake? Therefore, your claim in your report is false, and your action to solve the problem is also unreasonable.

Please

AUTHOR: Stacey - (U.S.A.)

You dug yourself into this hole.  If you could not afford the card then you have only yourself to blame.  I agree with the others.

And here comes Chrrelies, Charesles, Chriliksed with is idiot and useless comments - a person who blames all his problems on anyone and anything besides himself.  I await Karl and his stupid poems to follow.

The president

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

The president, any president does not have the ability to change all these little details by them selves.  They get blamed for a lot of things over which they have little or no control.  I'm not just talking about our current president but the last one and the one before etc.

Of course it works both ways, sometimes they take credit for good things that they really had little or control over also.

I have no idea why anyone would want that job.  No matter what party you are, about half the country hates you and you get blamed for everything people don't like whether you had anything to do with it or not.

Really?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

A couple years ago, (when Obama entered office) the credit card companies were allowed to double their scheduled monthly payments to their cardholders
- Okay keeping politics out of this, there is one word missing from your statement.  Creditors did need to increase the scheduled MINIMUM monthly payments.  That is the MINIMUM amount a card holder needs to pay back every month. The fact of the matter is, if you were only paying the minimum you were already over your head.   Where it was only a matter of time before you would have run into trouble, even if they didn't increase the minimum payments.

Every card company worked with me to set up a plan of payment except Target National.

- Yes, one of the best lines you often hear.  The fact is that you can look at this site and see other reports of how every other card helped them except for one.  But the one that didn't help them is one of the ones that did help someone else.

Note that I called them trying to set up an alternative arrangement, but these companies refuse to accept my payment
- So here is a good credibility test.  When they refuse your payment you are putting that money off to the side right? After 3 years it must be quite a tidy sum.  That way when you do get an agreement you can make a lump sum payment and get a good part of it paid off.

I'm curious as to how much you think you owe, how much they say you owe, and what "arrangments" you want them to make?

What entitles YOU to receive special consideration from your creditors?

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

The card companies didn't change the rules, the Feds did.

It wasn't just Obama, he can't unilaterally impose laws.

It also wasn't Obama who "refused" to issue a Social Security raise, it was the law that was/is in existence, tying increases to the economy.

"Yes, they have now added thousands of dollars just by refusing to accept an adjusted payment. I will never shop at Target or encourage anyone to shop at Target due to this ordeal."

You must have a horrendous balance owed, to incur this amount of interest and penalty.

Do you have a clue what a budget is?

You dug your own hole, now YOU have to do your best to get out of it and the credit card companies are NOT under ANY obligation to make concessions for you or anyone else.

"Every card company worked with me to set up a plan of payment except Target National."

How many credit cards do you have, and how do the policies of the others affect Target National?

I vote to keep Target open...they stood up to you and perhaps you'll learn from this, but I doubt it.

I know you are a financial genius and I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm not the one owing thousands on my credit cards.

Right...Its All Obama's Fault!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

Lets translate this report into what it should really say:

"I ran up huge credit card balances.  I used to squeeze by with only making minimum payments.  I could only afford the minimums because I had so many credit cards to pay and their huge balances.  The law was changed and I can't afford even the minimum payment on the Target card.  Its all THEIR fault!"

Target or any other credit card issuer is under ZERO obligation to "work" with anybody.  They are NOT your friend, your financial advisor, your clergyman, your lawyer or your debt advisor.  All they want is their money.  When you ran up the charges that you can't pay, did they try to "work" with you, asking you to accept their financing of only 25% of the purchase?  No!  They financed 100% of the purchase.  Why?  Because that was not optional.  According to the CONTRACT you signed, they agreed to finance the entire purchase.  According to that SAME CONTRACT, you agreed to pay every payment on time, every time.  Being late, paying less than the minimum is NOT optional.  The talk of credit card law changes was extant months in advance of the effective date.  It was not a surprise.  Your best bet is to get a part time job and bring in more money.
