Last Halloween I purchased 2 fog machines from the Howell Store in New Jersey. Due to time restraints, we did not have time to put the machines up, so we stored them for this year. We opened them on October 11, only to find out that BOTH of the machines did not work. My neighbor had the same problem with his. I called the store manager JOANN who kept repeating over and over, talking over me, that they have a 90 day return policy and that I must have my receipt. She gave me the customer service number to speak with them. After calling INDIA, I was cut off three times, couldn't understand a word they were saying, nor could they understand me, I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told no supervisor was available.
I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and today I received a phone call from a "Jeffrey". He informed me of the same policy, told me he didn't care what other store policies was, and basically told me I was out of luck.
DO NOT PURCHASED MERCHANDISE FROM THEM. If you loose the receipt or if the item does not break within 90 days they will not even consider taking the merchandise back.
They are currently selling the same machine, so I don't see what the harm would have been in exchanging them for the two new machines. They lost a customer, as I will NEVER shop there again, over $40.00.
Good luck Target, no wonder why your stock prices keep dropping!

I cannot believe you bought those items and had them for over a year and when you finally went to use them they didn't work and Target wouldn't take them back. What is the world coming to when a business does what they need to do to protect themselves from consumers ripping them off. Did you even take the time to think out your complaint before you posted it? You bought them a year ago, it's not Targets fault that you couldn't use them then and discover they were defective. Most people would have atleast tried them out to make sure they work, not put them in the garage or attic or wherever you put them for a year. That's a completely ludicrous notion to think that they should have done anything about it. The retailers offer a return period of sufficient time, after that it falls to the manufacture of the product. Again Target and other retailers like them in no way make or manufacture the products the sell. They purchase them from the businesses that do manufacturing of them. All they do is sell them. They don't know anymore than you do if something you buy is defective or not. If you have a complaint with anyone it's the manufacture of the fog machines and not Target. But the most mind bending thing about your complaint is the fact that you expected them to return the items after a year. If that's the case then we should all try and return the shoes we've been walking around in for a year and get a new pair. You owe whomever you talked to about this issue and gave an attitude to for your own mistake an apology.
