I read the back of the DVDs prior to purchase to make sure that the aspect ratio is compatible with my television. I make sure, before I buy, that the DVD is widescreen. I purchased a DVD of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves from Target in Cypress tonight that was grainy, pixilated, and a tiny little picture using about half the screen of the television, not the wide, theatrical aspect advertized. I couldn't see the characters' facial expressions, and it was, in general, an inferior product. I had no way of knowing this, looking at the specs on the back. The only way that I could have verified it was by seeing it, which voided my ability to return it for something else, or my money back. Now I am stuck with this terrible video and will have to buy another one, somewhere else, that will not look like someone took a video camera to the movies. The returns clerk was snarky and rude, saying that it was "the law" not to accept opened DVDs, unless I want to exchange for the same, defective, item. In the case of this fraudulently labeled DVD that won't even play all the way through, it is the fault of the DVD manufacturer/distributor and Target Cypress merchandizing for creating and selling such a terrible product that consumers can't verify defect and mis-labeling until they can't return it.
