TeleCheck Won't Approve Checkwriter And Will Never Approve Checkwriter Internet

 TeleCheck, a part of FirstData, claims to protect companies from check fraud by using a set of internal criteria for deciding whether an individual is worth the risk. They do not look at any other data, such as credit score, available funds, etc. This means that if you have never written a check that was processed by TeleCheck you will always be declined, until such time as TeleCheck decides to approve you.

I don't normally use checks. I have never used them on my account until I moved to Houston and had to use them to pay rent. Recently, my checkcard was cancelled due to a fraudulent transaction. I only had my checks to get groceries.

I went to Wal Mart and bought a can of wall texture with a check. Some $10.00. Two days later, I went to Wal Mart to get some groceries and tried to write a check for $41.00. Declined by TeleCheck.

I called and talked to them and they said I was declined for little to no check history and there was nothing they could do about it. They updated my personal information and said try again in 24 hours. Still declined the next day.

When I talked to my bank about it, the representative had also run into this problem with TeleCheck. She said it takes up to 6 months for TeleCheck to update their information. 

According to TeleCheck's model, you can never create rappoire with them unless you write checks and get approved. The problem is that you will never be approved because they will always decline your checks. It's a worthless company that only protects the company using it and provides no means for consumers to use their legitimate checks.

I have since refused to shop at any company that uses TeleCheck because I had to sit for four days without food waiting for my checkcard to get to me in the mail.
