When the 10-10#'s first came out we tried a couple of them.
MCI's, which we were misled to believe was another company, had the best deal, for us, at 5 cents a minute anytime to call my family in Louisiana, from just one state over, here in Mississippi.
We started using them and I remember checking the phone bill to make sure the charge was correct, and it was.
Just today I noticed the bill to be high on one particular call to my mom for $59.22 for a 329 minute call. And I remember mom saying she didn't want to run up my bill and I reminded her about this great 10-10-321 number we use all the time for only 5 cents a minute (I didn't know the company name) and that it should only cost around $15 for this call.
Anyways now, because of this high priced call, I find out the wife has been paying this (about 75%) inflated price for no telling how long now. And we are always bragging to others about how we only pay 5 cents a minute and are always careful to remember to dial this number before the person's phone number we are calling.
Our long distance charges probably average $100-125.00 a month, lately.
I don't know at what point they started charging us more than the 5 cents advertized but this month and last month were at "18 cents" a minute...NOT 5 cents as we had been led to believe all this time....are they trying to get rich overnight???...what a RIP-OFF!!!...that's nearly a 75% increase!!!!
I also went on their website tonight and just for the heck of it, they have a place you can enter the phone number you are calling to and from to see what the cost is, and no matter what phone number I put in...it was 18 cents a minute...even if I call myself!
Anyways...now we have to pay for long distance charges of $125.51 when it should have been around $29.05, if figuring the 5 cents a minute we were led to believe. And how many months or even years have they done this to us?
Had I known it was MCI I would have not even given them the chance since I had poor service from them the last and only time I tried them.
They must know they are a poor company if they have to 'hide' behind someone else's name.
Well I have a few other choice words for them I want to say, since I am so angry about this, but I will keep them to myself.
It's a shame they are allowed to get away with doing this to people.
There aught to be a law against misleading folks this way.
I am presently unemployed. I pay my bills. I have an excellent credit rating...and I am NOT happy about being RIPPED-OFF this way at all.
I have no address for the company. Their charges came on my Bell South local service bill and when I call the phone number to Telecom Usa (on the bill) all I get is a recorder that hangs up on me.
Not sure talking would do any good anyway....that is soooooo wrong of them!!!! In my opinion they are nothing but liars and thieves and they owe me!
