I bought a 2008 GMC canyon about two years ago. Fast forward a year or so and I was now laid off my job because of the economy. I didn't have tons of savings and retirement and was at the point I needed money so I decided to try and trade the Canyon for another small truck (not as fancy) and get a couple thousand cash back which would help greatly. I narrowed my choice to Tempe Dodge and another dealer who both had trucks I was interested in and would also give me cash back and decided on Tempe Dodge. The sales manager REALLY wanted my GMC since it was certified, and still under original warranty. First of all it took FOREVER (like 4 hours) for them to complete the paperwork, but FINALLY I left and a few weeks later I got a call from them asking me to bring the truck back because they had "forgotten" to have it emission tested. I said yes and told them that the clutch was making a funny sound so they said when I brought it in they would check it. They never did, just ran it through emissions. Then another week goes by and I am driving to my new job and the clutch goes out. I had not even owned it a month yet. I had it towed back there and they told me that I did not have an extended warranty and it would cost me $1000 to fix it. I THOUGHT I had bought the extended warranty but apparently I had not and there was no way I could afford a grand. I spoke to the service manager, the sales manager, left about a million messages for the general manager because I felt that they should at the VERY LEAST offer to split the cost with me if nothing else since I had owned it LESS THAN A MONTH but they REFUSED to fix it for me without me paying full price to have it fixed. I lost my new job because I couldn't get to work at 5AM on public transportation. I feel they took advantage of me and the situation I was in. They saw me coming a mile away and sold me a LEMON. I KNOW I told them I wanted an extended warranty but when I looked at the paperwork later there was no mention of an extended warranty so why I was there for 4 hours doing paperwork I will never know ! Just being fair and the desire to have a good reputation should have prompted them to fix that clutch ! It has caused me countless problems and heartache and I tell EVERYONE I know to NEVER buy a vehicle at Tempe Dodge!
