The College Network Worthless nursing program - unusable in many states Indianapolis Indiana

If you read the statement and ruling from the VA BON as long as you started prior to April 2008 and finished prior to Dec 31 2009 you would be allowed to sit for your boards.. As for the statement about them taking anybody that is simply not true anymore. They have clamped down several times over that was true in the past but now you must be at minimum an LPN or an NREMT-P (no different then other VCCS schools in VA with an EMT-P to RNN bridge) there also will accept I believe certain other fully licensed healthcare professionals such as Chiropractors (who are technically already doctors in their own right).. I personally think its ridiculous what VA has done because of the issue of other Nurse Compac states coming to agreements with Excelsior. After all I thought NLN accrediation was the Gold Standard but yet its not good enough for some states but yet Ive seen where some employers expect you to have come from an NLN accredited program which many arent in VA as well. That being said the compromise many states have worked out is additional clinical time be done (no different then what the BSN through Indiana State University does) What I find amazing is as an LPN I had nearly 500 clinical hrs to include normally areas only covered under RN circulum (such as OR, ER, ICU) but yet those hrs dont mean crap as far as my RN clinical requirements which is odd to say the least (not to mention that ADN and BSN clinical requirements are no different). I just wish a happy medium could be found especially seeing how the Commonwealth Nursing program (which I believe deep down was the reason VA started blocked Excelsior to further its own in state online program) seems to be falling apart having already lost one of its four cc campuses (VA Western CC) which withdrew participation this year.

The College Network only signs people up for programs that they are eligible to complete. At the time you were signed up, the Excelsior College ASN program was accepted in your state. Had you enrolled with Excelsior College to complete the Nursing portion of the program prior to 04/02/08, you would have had until 12/31/09 to finish the program.

As far as signing people up with any nursing or medical affiliation, The College Network signs people up who meet the minimum requirements necessary for enrollment into the degree-granting institution. We only allow people to sign up if they are eligible and meet the program requirements.

The College Network is not responsible for decisions or changes made by state boards of nursing. We do not allow people to sign up for a program that is not approved by their state board of nursing. This information is continually researched so that we are able to inform current and prospective customers of any possible changes or decisions made by their state board of nursing.

We do offer programs other than the Excelsior College ASN that are accepted in your area. You have not wasted your money or the opportunity to earn a degree using our materials. And it is also up to the individual wishing to take the RN boards to contact their state board of Nursing to find out if this is an acceptable method. I for one am a graduate of Excelsior College and DID NOT use any of the "publishing companies" such as RUE, College Network, Chancellors, Distance Learning Systems, etc. Don't blame the actual school!
