While searching through the internet for Grant information I came across The Grant University, which is listed as number one on this website link: http://www.grants-reviewed.org/1/, they are full of it.
I was charged for the shipping right away, and then 6 days later I was charged $69.95 for the monthly membership fee. Understand I did not get the cd that they offered at this time.
I called them and at first they were not going to give me my money back, until I talked to a supervisor and I was refunded $65.95 wow, what a difference from $1.98 and $69.95, but at least I got some of my money back.
Today on Nov. 17, 2008 I checked my account and found another charge for something that I didn't order. IWB Club? I called the 800 number givin on my account and they only way they were able to pull up my account was by phone number.
I recall getting a message from something a week ago, but I choose not to call it, then I get this $29.95 charge. So I called their number and they said they would void the charge and gave me a refrence number and they said they would send me a email confirming the void. So far I haven't recieved an email and since it is still the same day I haven't seen a pending void on my account.
These companies are such a rip off. I looked up the terms and copy and pasted the informaiton below to hopefully help others. They state that they keep our information private, but they don't they sell it to other companies to include our credit card numbers. Isn't this the way Identity Theft can start?

I too was Ripped Off!

I too have been ripped off on the $1.98 CD! I called the number the day after I paid for the CD on 3/3 but on 3/9 was charged $69.95! When it showed on my account on 3/11 I called and got an India Indian who didn't speak English very well. I told him I had cancelled on 3/3 after my order on 3/2 by calling the number. He said hold on, after about 30 seconds he's back online and says he can't find any trace of what I'm talking about! He says he'll cancel my membership now and I won't be able to log into the members area anymore (like I ever did!). I said OK so when would I receive a refund? He says they don't do refunds and Hung UP on ME!
I was going to just chalk it up to experience, since I did think there was anything I could do about it (they did have my debit card # though). And now it's been almost 60 days and I find a $30 charge by IWB Club! I cancelled thru Grant Funding Search in March but It looks like they sold my personal info to IWB (which wasn't even mentioned when I sent for the CD). And if you go to their website: http://www.iwbclub.com/ it is only a log in page!
Tommorow my checks will bounce and my money won't be in there til the next day!
Another thing... Their privacy terms are bullsh@t: now I am on about 100 spam lists!

We Need To Alert More People To This Scam

First, I was duped the same way everyone else was and have gone through all the same frustration to resolve the matter. It seems that banks are very reluctant to just go after these types of companies.
Funny thing is that I know I spoke to the same person at "customer service" who represented both Grant Funding and IWB. They wouldn't admit it but I know it was her.
I'm scared that even though I cancelled my card, they will find a way to charge more bogus stuff to my account.
I am all in favor of going after them however we can. I'm pissed off enough to do what it takes and gather as many as we can to join our fight. I'm not sure how we get in touch with each other since this site deletes our email info (try me at matt suspensemagazine com) - fill in the blanks with the obvious.

I got ripped off too !!

I applied for the 1.98 cd, which was never received. When I contacted the customer service line I was told that it was sent as an email link. I did get an email but the link was no good. I noticed the 69.95 charge on my bank account a few days later. I had not used the website or received the promised product. When I called I was told that I could not get a refund for the current month but I could cancel the membership with my privileges continuing through the end of the month. I was given a login and password. I used it to go online and found nothing but helpful hints and more books to purchase. This is what I paid $69.95 for?? (And they want you to pay it monthly? For what?)
Today, two weeks later, I noticed a 29.95 charge on my account. It said IWB Club; what was this. I called the 866 number and listened to a continuous message about how good being a member of the club was for over 11 minutes. Thank GOD I found your site, then called the 877 number which connected me to Grant University. They did not deny their alignment with IWB Club and provided me gladly with an 800 customer service number. Well, at least this one worked.
I spoke to Mary who told me that I had agreed to the club membership when signed up with one of their affiliates. I informed her that I had not authorized this at all. I was firm but polite. (YELLING gets you no where!) She told me about a 30 day money back guarantee and said they would gladly refund the amount within 3-5 business days. (I'll be back to let you know how that turns out.) She also said she would send me an email confirmation of my cancellation and the refund policy. I politely gave her 24 hours, but it was there in 5 minutes. (WOW I was shocked.) Hopefully they will stick to their word and this complaint will end here.
I don't mind purchasing on the internet, but I do not want to pay for a service or product which I didn't order or receive. That is when it is a rip-off.

Class Action Law suit needs to be filed

To all the consumers out there. There is no reason why we can not start a class action law suite against these folks. So far IWB Club has not credited my account but the charge is still pending.
I called The Grant University back and told them to stop selling my personal information along with my credit card information, and they hung up on me.
What this causes is all of us canceling our credit cards. This is a form of Identity Theft and is against the law.
If anyone would like to contact me, please reply or comment on this post. It says that we are not supposed to include our personal information in here, however I'm willing to put my personal email addy up so that you can contact me personally and we all can take care of this company. Please contact me at (((email redacted))).
Look forward to discussing this issue further with you.
