Beverly Karshner and the staff at The Notter School of Pastry Arts are lying, manipulative and unprofessional. As a former employee at the school, they hired me on with promises of huge expansion and advancements. This school has the dreams of ivy league notoriety, but in reality is a sham for a school. There practices include hiding behind the phone calls and closed doors and ducking anyone they owe money to. As an employee there I was never placed on payroll and was stated that " they just didn't get around to it yet". While answering the phones I received countless calls from bill collectors demanding payments for services as far as six- nine months back. How can a school promise prestige and exclusivity, but under the surface has the appearance of an impending bankruptcy? After deciding that this was not a company I wanted to associate with, I turned in my letter of resignation. Giving them just cause and ample time to find and train a replacement, they opt to use me for the remainder of the day and toss me out at the close of the day. Upon leaving a requested information on my final pay and was said to be "assuming that they were not going to pay". I notified them that if I did not receive my paycheck on the first like I was supposed to that I would not be able to pay rent and my 2 yr old daughter and I would be evicted. Over a week after my eviction notice and countless calls and emails I have yet to get paid and am on the verge of being tossed on the street. They hide behind every excuse not to pay anyone for there services. This company is a scandalous and deceitful company be aware that if you work there YOU WILL NOT GET PAID!!!!!!!

Ill i can say is that anyone with common value can seen someone dishonest is trying to hurt all of us that goes to Notter School. If even half of these items were true - they would be goon. The state of Florida would not let people not get paid . I am at the school everyday and see only happy staff members .
Ms. Karshner is a great person - as is all at Notter School - rally - Ewald is a owner he to would pay people . that what ownership is. I know I have had many areas that needed help with and Ms.Karshner has always done over and above!
Thanks Ms. Karshner - keep doing a great job! nice to see someone that really cares !

A huge scam and waste of money

Beyond my personal beef with the school, I believe the original poster 100% about his not being paid. I became personal friends with a couple of different chef instructors while attending Notter, and I know for an absolute fact that one of them did not receive his pay as promised. This person is a somewhat well known and very respectable chef and was duped by Beverly - she used this person's friendship with Ewald to swindle him into taking the teaching position. It's so sad. Ewald is going to have his reputation ruined by this woman, if he hasn't already!

I was struggling and they help me find a job, Notter School went out 100%. I had trouble financially and Ms. Karshner worked with me to find a positive resolution. She went so far out of her way that no one would expect. Never did she or anyone make me feel bad or embarrassed. In fact it was so far the other end, she was encouraging and so very giving.

She calls the cops on any employee showing up for money she owes them. This lady is an embarrassment to the educational industry.
Every 2 weeks she has a new set of admission reps. Employees either quits or she fires them for no apparent reason. She manipulates the employees against each other.
Chef Notter however, is one of the greatest individuals you could ever meet. If he doesn't wake up his reputation is going to be as dirty as Beverly Karshner and her right hand girl Amy Kilpatrick.
Whatever GOOD reports you are ready please disregard. She has paid well for them.

Excellent experience

My overall impression of Chef Notter is that he his committed to his art and students. His enthusiasm for his subject is contagious. He was very solicitous, which was evidenced by his willingness to add content to the class if a student was interested in something that wasn't covered by the lesson plan. The class had an excellent balance between chef demonstrations and hands-on activities and a lot was covered in three days. I would not hesitate to take another class at this school.
Obviously, I cannot speak for other peoples' experiences but after reading some of the comments I felt compelled to provide some balance based on my own personal experience.

Responce to Mr. Camarto

The Notter School of Pastry Arts prides itself in the true and proven quality of its education and training programs as well as the positive environment it provides for its employees. The management of the School strives to create an atmosphere that allows each individual to develop his or her abilities to the greatest extent possible. The School recognizes that each employee constitutes an integral part of the Notter School community as a whole, and as such, values each employee for his or her role in the proper functioning of that community. For example, Notter School works with its employees to accommodate their schedules whenever possible. In Mr. Camaratos situation in particular, the management of the Notter School of Pastry Arts granted Mr. Camaratos repeated requests to adjust his work schedule so he could attend to his own needs.
Mr. Camarato was employed for a very short duration, and was still being trained in his position when he chose to leave. On December 29, 2009 Mr. Camarato submitted a resignation letter. Notter School accepted Mr. Camaratos resignation the same day. Therefore, at the close of business on December 29, 2009 Mr. Camaratos employment with the school ended.
Mr. Camaratos position at the school did not involve handling accounts payable or dealing with vendors in this manner, nor was he in any way involved in managing or monitoring Notter Schools financial matters. Therefore, he could not or should not have received any of the alleged vendor telephone calls he described in his posting. Furthermore, Notter Schools financial condition was and continues to be in excellent shape, as opposed to his representations to the contrary.
Mr. Camarato was paid in full for the entire time he worked at the Notter School of Pastry Arts and was paid in accordance with the requirements of Florida and Federal law. Notter School deeply regrets the current circumstances in which Mr. Camarato and his family find themselves. His situation, however, is not in any way attributable to the actions of the Notter School of Pastry Arts. It is truly a shame that he has decided to engage in this libelous and defamatory posting after resigning from his position. The information he has placed on this site is a fabrication and complete misrepresentation of the events surrounding his employment and departure from the company. To respect his privacy, the company declines to go into any further detail. Nonetheless, the schools management hopes that Mr. Camarato finds a prompt resolution to his circumstances and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
