Here is a Copy of the letter which explains the situation. I have a rather horrible experience to share with you. I went to Patriot Furniture on 2/13/03 with the intentions of buying a Couch with 2 recliners. We dealt with a pleasant gentleman at Patriot who showed us the advantages of having a whole set of furniture and we decided that is how we wanted to go. We decided to visit the RoomStore which is right next door to Patriot where we walked around for about 45 minutes before getting a salesperson (He greeted us right away but we wanted to look first).
We explained that we needed a Couch,Loveseat and Chair as well as what budget we were in. He then showed us several sets with the one we purchased catching our eye. My wife even sat in the chair and said that it would be nice to have a chair with no room for kids in it for just her! We did not like the lamps that came with the package so he said we had to go on a venture to find some accessories to offset the price of the lamps. As we searched our salesperson got a call that he had to go get his child at school because she was sick. We immediately were rushed to get everything done so he hurried the paperwork constantly saying that he had to go.
We had been there 2 hours by then so we were ready to go also. I was at the counter and told to sign here and here! I was so rushed I never got to look over the order trusting the integrity of the salesperson and the company. Well today we get our delivery with no chair in it. The delivery guy says that they sometimes do not put them on the ticket if they are out of stock. I called with them here to the store and told my situation to a receptionist who gave me a store manager. I explained that we went in to buy a chair couch and loveseat and left with the impression that is what we were buying. He pretty much said Oh Well not on your ticket so you did not pay for it. I explained to him that I was very clear on what we wanted and if the chair was not included... do you think I would have known that.. wouldnt the salesperson have tried to sell me the chair?
But the store manager who just did not seem to care.. pretty much said this is your problem but I will help you if I can. He then called Tom McManaway who said that Oh Well he can buy the chair at 260.00 or return the furniture with a 10% restocking fee. This is insane... Did I mention that I could have bought all the furniture at Patriot for that price? Not the same furniture and the tables were not as appealing but none the less they were fair and reasonable. I spoke with Tom directly and right in the beggining he said that he did not need to hear my story that his decision was made. I asked who his boss was and he said he was the final say in all issues.. I am going to keep the furniture because I am not going to pay you another 150.00 to rip me off even more.
I went to the Bad Business Bureu and you have been ejected from the better business burea with 105,000 fines in Arizona complaints. So I am going to take that 250.00 and place an ad in the Waco paper about my experience with your company so look for the Sunday Paper I know that I cannot use your name but I can use your address and who you are next too. I have also contacted channel 6 and channel 10 news to see if they have one of those consumer watchdog groups which I will participate in finding how you feel justified in ripping me off. I also am contacting Patriot Furniture and the other local furniture locations in this area so that they can post this letter in their locations with my cell phone number for any consumer that wishes to speak with me about my experience with your company.
I hope to be called and I want my chair that is it. I think this is pathetic that I have to go to such extremes to get someone to care about me as a consumer and what I was told when I made the purchase
