I received a power wheelchair from The Scooter Store in July 2005. Within 5-6 months after delivery, the chair wouldn't hold a battery charge. The Scooter Store technician came out and replaced the batteries. From that day forward, the chair wouldn't hold a proper charge.

I kept calling for service and the technician didn't know what was wrong. They kept guessing and replacing very expensive and good working parts. They billed my insurance company when it was under one year warranty.

My friend also experience the same exact treatment, she too had the same wheelchair as I and got her chair a month before me from The Scooter Store.
We both had to complain to The Better Business Bureau and our insurance companies.

Exactly a year after we purchased our chairs, The Scooter Store flew down from New Braunfels, TX because their technician was doing some very shady things to my friend and I. And The Scooter Store gave us two brand new chairs. They replaced mine with another make and model chair and gave my friend the same make and model only upgraded her chair as a heavy duty chair. My chair was also upgraded to hold my weight. The Scooter Store took our old chairs back with them the day they delivered us the new chairs.

The Scooter Store set me and my friend up for failure. Because now we find out they didn't inform Medi-care of the switch-a-roo. So Medi-care won't cover repairs to my new chair because it's a completely different make and model. Where they covered repairs to my friend's chair, only The Scooter Store milked my friend's insurance company for so many thousands of dollars and left her with a botched chair again!

I will never recommend anyone to use The Scooter Store ever. The Scooter Store is trying to say my friend and I abused our chairs, misused them outdoors as main forms of transportation and whatever else they can think of instead of taking responsibility for not only charging for things under warranty, but pulling a fast one on our insurance companies.

The Scooter Store ceased my friend as a customer after they milked her insurance company to the maxx. And The Scooter Store is "ceasing" me as a customer because they cannot charge my insurance company for repairs being they never reported the exchange of my chair to my insurance company a year ago!

If you feel you've been wronged by this company please contact The Better Business Bureau, The Federal Trade Commission, and your local congressperson. Get your story heard.

The Scooter Store just lost a multi-million lawsuit to the government for Medi-care fraud in May 2007, their day is coming from their customers.

You were abusing your chair if you were using outside for transportation. That is NOT why Medicare bought the chair for you, and why they will NOT pay for repairs. The powerchair is NOT a car that you can drive all around town. It is for you to be able to get around your home to perform necessary tasks.....NOT for driving to the doctor or to the store. The only thing wrong the scooter store did for you was to provide you the chair in the first place as it seems you do not even need it.
