Individual mentioned he was doing this as an internship and was recruited at his college which is out of state.
The books he is selling are reference books and are sold separately at the cost of $80 each. However, he does not have the merchandise with him and if you google the ISBN number you can see this book ranges from -$1 up to $60. His claim is that one must pay upfront or even put a deposit and the merchandise. This is where I believe the scam was clear. He mentioned that if you pay the full amount upfront one has to mail their receipt to the company, but if you only put a deposit he would come back in August collect the difference, and deliver the books within a two week period in August.

He has been talking with individuals in the Southview neighborhood and plans on returning the next few days since he was asking for neighbors w/kids. This individual claims to be a college student and drives an older model black Acura.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Yes, do the research

Make sure you look for information NOT authored by Southwestern: news stories, message board posts, and even blogs. They may not be completely reliable, but Southwestern's reliability is at least as dubious, if not more. At the very least, use your brain and think critically, instead of being taken in by vacuous, stock phrases like "they've been in business for over 100 years" that ultimately provide no useful information whatsoever.
