Brian Church sold me on The Warranty of Service. He used story of a man that was dissatisfied with the company and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
The story goes something like this- The man didn't want to put the time or effort into doing what was necessary. In order to prove to the man the system worked and that they stood behind the
Warranty of Service, Brian said he finished setting up the site.
He used the site, made the man's initial investment back, and then "washed his hands" of him.
I documented this story on my computer and bought into the program. Later I was laughed at by Jim Cochran. He basically said, "Even if he did say this, why would you believe him?" This isn't logical. Well, no kidding.
I said that I had it documented on my computer. I said that it had a "last modified date" of April 8th, 2005, the day after I signed with Brian, I transcribed my notes into my computer.
Jim Cochran, basically said, Who cares? Anyone can modify the dates of a document. I have learned, from now on I will record any phone conversation that involves promises and sales pitches.
That was the first and last part of my report. Now the middle. The real reason for my report.
The coaching by Rick Hardman was excellent. He is a great motivator and coach. Where I ran into problems was with so called "EXPERTS".
The technical advisors that constantly are asking for rave reports. The girls seem very sweet and have knowledge of the "Builder"
Strike 1. I did all my research. I asked for help inputting my products into the "Builder". They offered me "3 free warehouses" that were integrated with the "Builder". I declined. (that is another story). I was told that other warehouses weren't compatable with the Builder.
I was shocked. What do you mean, they aren't compatible? After having a talk with my coach, Rick Hardman, he told me they meant to say "not integrated". I thought all my research was for nothing, and that I had to use the warehouses that they offered. That wasn't the case.
Strike 2. I needed help putting images and descriptions on the website. Some of my suppliers sent me images in PDF format from Adobe. The builder only accepts jpeg or gif. I asked how would I accomplish my goal.
I worked with her for about an hour to figure out if I would have to purchase the full version of Adobe or what. She didn't have a clue. I finally did more research and found a conversion program. Much more wasted time.
Strike 3. After all my research, determining the best of the best web sites, what I required to make my site better than the rest, or at least as good. I was told I could not do that with the Builder. Then I was told I could, but it would cost me extra.
Then I negotiated with Erik Largent. I was going to use Wells Fargo for credit card processing, something they offered for free. Bright Builders/ The Summit group was charging $999.95.
So I traded that for changes on the Builder.
I was assigned Amy Bury for a project advisor. I told her specifically, If it can't do the specific search, then I am not interested. She convinced me we could make it work and it would take about 2 weeks to complete, depending on if I like the graphics and designs, how fast I got back to her.
Over six weeks later, with as many as 19 days with no contact from Amy, just an automated email saying she was gone on vacation. Another time a week went by, I asked her about the progress. She said she was waiting on my reaction to the new changes, changes that she never sent.
All said and done, the sixth week, I was happy with the graphics but she seemed to be avoiding me on the search portion of the home page. I confronted her about it and she said I needed to sign off on the graphics and layout. I refused, because I wanted to see it with the drop down menus, cart ect.
I told her I needed to add one category to each of the drop down search menus. That was "search all". She proceeded to tell me that wouldn't "narrow" the search field. The drop down menus only served as single searches and couldn't be combined.
That was the whole point of the drop down search menus. She told me that what i wanted could not be done.
I talked to another "Expert". She said it couldn't be done. I was livid. Six weeks wasted. I specifically stated, That unless this specific search could be incorporated, I wasn't interested.
This second expert, double checked and came back with, Well it can be done but it will cost you extra, and the person that does that can't start until September.
That would be 10 weeks into just the design. What happened to the 2 weeks? Would I have to go another 2 wseeks after that? Is this next person an "EXPERT" too?
I asked for a partial refund. $4000 of $7,755.00. Here is part of my request.
I have researched other web hosting and design companies that I am very impressed with. I believe that your company has some very caring people, but lack the technical expertise to make your company great. That is only my opinion and I plan to keep that to myself. (since they are giving me a hard time, I am coming forward)
But again, I would like to request a partial refund for services not rendered for the amount of $4,000.00.
I think this would be more than fair. I only used the 10 mentoring sessions. Eric Largent and I had a discussion about these. I said that 10 sessions at $2495.00 would equal $500/hour or $250.00/ half hour session. He said that, I would receive as many as was necessary until I felt comfortable on my own.
I am paying for Auction PI, though I have never used it and don't think I ever will. I would even send that back if you would give me some credit for that.
I have also allowed for $795.00 for time spent on the graphic design of my website.
Also, I have been paying for web hosting fees for the past 4 months and my site isn't up and running yet. That too, I would not contest. And lastly, the original offer included 3 free warehouses which I never used.
I think it would be best for all parties involved, to part ways now and refund the amount requested.

Stike 4. I had an appointment to speak with Erik Largent about all of this at 6:00pm. I finally emailed his secretary at 6:40pm and she apoligized, but he was busy with a client. He would call me when he was done. Unfortunately, I scheduled another appointment with someone to help me istall a tonneau cover on my truck.
I told his secretary I would be available the next night, same time. He did not call. This is just typical of the service I received after the 72 hour cooling off period was completed.
I was finally contacted by Jim Cochran of The Summit Group. What company am I dealing with???? Bright Builders or the Summit Group?? Are they one in the same? He told me that the only thing they would do is to see how much it would cost to do the upgrades and put me with a different project advisor.
Finally, I checked with my credit card company. They said that since the payment was made as a balance transfer, that I really couldn't dispute it.
They were really thinking ahead (The Summit Group/Bright Builders). Really sneaky. I thought it was just another way of purchasing something. OPM, Other people's money as they put it.
I did talk with enough people at my credit card company and they said I could still dispute it.
