On Feb 13, 2013, I placed an online order with The Swanx, a company who creates beautiful hand painted shoes. When I placed the order, the website clearly stated it would take 8 to 10 weeks. When May was nearly finished, I started checking the status of my order. The account said that the order was processing or artist was working. In the end of June 2013, I started to call the company, and was met with a message system. I tried nearly everyday. In early July 2013, I finally tried the "Live Chat", and did get a reply fairly quickly. But the reply was sent to my email. A little confusing.
I had asked the rep how to go about getting a refund, and I was told that it was against store policy for a refund, only store credit. I asked to speak to a live person, and was denied. I was told that the person I was communicating with was the only employee and that same person was responsible for the phone, email and live chat. I mentioned the time frame stated on the website and communication was cut off. The shipped my order, despite the issues that I wanted fixed. I finally received my order on July 12, 2013.
I filed a complaint with the BBB and the Washington General Attorney, for the customer service and fradulent misrepresentation of the time frame, and the company only said that they fulfilled their end of our agreement, and I was not entitled to anything more. The Swanx even went as far as to cut off my account with them, and if the shoes don't fit, I'm pretty well stuck. The BBB and the Washington General Attorney can not help me resolve the issue of the Fradulent Misrepresentation of the time frame, which is the biggest complaint. I assume it has to do with the fact that the company refuses to acknowledge the time frame that they clearly state on the website vs the reality of processing and shipping. BBB stated that because The Swanx is not qualified to be a member of the BBB, they can not help more than what they have. The Washington General Attorney told me my best bet was to sue. I'm all the way in Kentucky, and I have a life that doesn't leave time to sue dishonest companies.
I wish I had done research on the company before placing my order. Since this problem, I have found over 100 complaints with the BBB, and several other poor reviews of this company. All with the same complaints as I have.
