I ordered a Dining Room Table and Chairs set from TheFurniture.com through Google Checkout. About 2 weeks after ordering it I was contacted and informed that the chairs were discontinued. I looked at the chairs they offered on their website and I also checked on other sites to be sure that I would be equally happy with a different set than I originally requested.

I ordered 4 chairs. The pricing on the original chairs was $400 per pair and the pricing on the alternate chairs was $270 per pair. That is a difference of $260. The company offered to refund me $120. We settled at a refund of $200.

On January 20th I received the set and opened the boxes as I was instructed to do to check for damage before the delivery driver departed. They appeared to be undamaged and I signed the paperwork and he left. I immediately sat down to assemble the chairs and I discovered that there were bolts missing in the back legs. There was no way to assemble the chairs.

On January 21st I called TheFurniture.com and told them about the problem. I spoke to Samantha Waszkiewicz. She requested me to send pictures of the chairs. From this point on I had problems getting anything done by this company. I would call and be told that Samantha was out. Then, I would talk to her and she would tell me that she was going to send replacement parts and that she would let me know when they were going to be sent. I was told that the person at GlobalUSA, where the chairs were made, was on vacation for 3 weeks. I was the one who had to initiate almost every phone call or e-mail. I have documentation of the e-mails.

In the meantime I took the chairs to someone who builds and repairs furniture. They informed me that they would not even be able to assemble the chairs as they were. They felt that even if they found the correct type of screw/bolt that they would not be sturdy enough to bear weight.

On February 13th I was finally informed that they were going to replace the full chairs. I asked when they would be shipped and she told me 2-4 weeks. At this time I told her that the whole procedure had been ridiculous and that I should be compensated for it taking so long and all of the hassle I had to go through. She told me that she could only compensate me $50 at her level of authority. She said I needed to speak to Nancy Smith.

I tried several times to contact "Nancy Smith" and never spoke to her. I was told she had just left, that she was out ill and then she got ill again just a week later! I finally got notified that the chairs were being shipped out on March 13th!! I kept trying to contact someone who could refund some of the money that I had paid on my credit card.

The chairs arrived on March 19th. I, along with the delivery driver opened the box to find the chairs had the exact same problem as the original set. He offered to assemble them for me and as he inspected them he realized that it is impossible to assemble them. He took back all 8 chairs and everything that had come with them. I called and spoke to Samantha the following day since they were closed because of the time change. I informed her that the chairs were the same and asked if it would be a problem if I just got a refund for the chairs. I also told her that I should not have to pay the full price for the table without chairs. Once again, I was told that I would have to talk to Nancy Smith. In the 2 months that I was dealing with this I never talked to anyone named Nancy Smith.

Today I called and spoke to Samantha and she told me that Nancy was out sick again and that she was going to forward my call to her home phone number. I was put on hold for quite awhile and when the woman picked up the phone she sounded exactly like Samantha only she was trying to sound sick!! It was incredibly ridiculous. I played along for a few minutes and then told her that I believed I was still talking to Samantha. She said to "trust her" that it wasn't Samantha! I was told that I was getting $50 knocked off the price of the table. What a joke! After playing me for 2 months and then sending chairs that were still worthless! I asked her if she would like for me to send the table back so she could shove it up her butt and she hung up on me.

I called back and she actually was stupid enough to answer the phone and say her name was Nancy when she answered. She obviously forgot that "Nancy" was home sick and had to have calls patched through to her!! I told her to be happy because she won! I told her to put my refund on my Visa and that I was over dealing with such children.

I am sure that I am not going to get any more money back for everything they put me through but I would sure like for them to get some notoriety for how they strung me along and made me wait for 2 months to get "replacement" chairs. They obviously sell below standard furniture and I would love it if I could somehow make other shoppers aware of this bogus operation. Please let me know of any other avenues I can take to accomplish this task!

Dealing with TheFurniture.com

AUTHOR: Aruninnj - (United States of America)

Dealing with TheFurniture.com is not easy and not a pleasant experience. Yes, they do offer the best deals on furniture out there. But communicating with people there and their follow-up skills are absolutely difficult to deal with. We furnished our entire house through TheFurniture.com thinking that we were getting the best deal for the buck. We placed our order in June and after constantly calling them on status on delivery, we never got anywhere until I contacted the manufacturer directly. Apparently all the furniture was available in June and the manufacturer would have shipped everything if TheFurniture.com paid for it. Here's a kicker....we paid in full in June and they issued payment to the manufacturer in September. The furniture finally arrived in 1st week of November. One sofa was dented and we immediately contacted TheFuniture.com and spoke to Samantha & Sergie (extremely pleasant people to talk to). They tried to have the sofa replaced, but unfortunately the manufacturer discontinued that particular model and we had love seat and 2 chairs and couldn't really return the items. Samantha attempted to find someone to repair but couldn't/didnt do much...I found couple of local guys who gave estimates. I ran the estimates by Samantha finally had someone do an in-house repairs. Originally the repair estimate was around $350 with someone I found online, who would pick up and drop off the sofa depending upon distance (additional charges) and would have taken 3-4 weeks and when the repair was completed, the charges came to $490. I paid the individual and submitted the invoice to Samantha for reimbursement. The response that I got from her was we agreed to $350 and not $490 so the reimbursement is going to be $350 and $490 even though were ordering another piece of furniture that the amounts could be adjusted towards. What Im really worried about is after spending thousands of dollars furnishing the entire house through TheFurniture.com, if there is a problem with the furniture, the 5yr warranty that theyve offered on all the furniture is worthless. If they couldnt do anything about a sofa then what would they do if God for bid something happened to the remainder of the furniture.
