Corporate Advocacy Program™
The basic scam is, they advertise a product at a low price, they send an email for the purchaser to call a service number to verify. In my case, they sent the email and called me at my home. The phone call changed from a verification, to a pressure sales of additional accessories and notification that vital parts normally included with the product from the manufacturer such as the memory stick and battery can be purchased at an additional costs.
I opted for just the camera without the memory stick and battery. I know something is not right especially since the FUJI takes AA size batteries, and not any special battery.
So this is where I leave off.
So far what has happened fits the description of others who have reported on the company. Some tried to cancel with no success, got rude customer service, received the wrong product, received product with defective or substandard parts.
The restocking fee and additional charges that come out of nowhere make returning the product a financial loss.
And I have no expectations that my experience will be any different.
I was scammed before when I bought something from Smarthome.com. It was supposed to be a wireless security camera and receiver - what I got in the correctly packaged cellophaned box was a used laptop webcam (had black insulation tape over the mic hole). It was sitting there where the wireless camera was supposed to be. I had the same run-around with trying to return it as others who have reported here. I contested the credit card charge and was able to get my money back, but I was out money for shipping and handling when it was all over.
I'll keep this report up to date as far as what happens next.

Of course, if I came here first I would have known something as well.
So here's what you do if you get caught in the pig trough (this is good for other scams as well):
Call your credit card company, explain you ordered something from suspect scammers, and have them reissue a different number immediately before the piglets charge your account. They see that they can't rip you off so they automatically cancel your order. You will not have to face customer service from H#@!!, or any tacked on fraudulent charges. Spread the word.
There is a huge ring of fraudulent internet retailers that have many different names. Most look very convincing with professional websites.
My story ends even better...I bought a slightly used professional level camera (digital Minolta 7hi SLR) from a local guy on Craigslist...for less. Takes sweet pictures.
Good luck everyone!
