Thomas Barron signed a detailed contract to complete a home addition with a Contract Amount over $200,000. He said he only needed 4 months. We gave him 5 months contractually. It took 9 months before the nightmare was over. I work overseas and my wife had to take over the project and get it finished. She took over his labor, paid them regularly (he did not), and supervised the work completion. She contacted subs.
Barron started asking for draws before he completed work required by previous paid draws. We got to a point where we refused to pay him any more until he completed work already funded. He then informed us he could not do any more work because he had no money to buy materials or pay labor or subs. We took over the project finances completely. We paid several subs who had completed their required work but had not been paid. We also took over the project management. We scheduled his labor to show up and work, and we paid them. Barron agreed to all this, although reluctantly (he had no choice), and was at the project some of the time. He assured us there was sufficient funding left to comoplete the project. He was wrong, oh so wrong.
To get the project completed we had to spend $30,000 more than the Lump Sum Contract Amount which Barron committed to contractually. We later learned he had purchased construction equipment not needed for our project and bought other personal items and paid personal debt with much of our early draws paid to him.
He agreed to pay off the dept and reduced it by about $7500 after the project was completed, by paying us monthly. Since then he has disappeared, will not answer calls or emails, just quit paying. We have a lien on his truck and if we can find him we will take it. (Hope your job with him does not suffer!) We also have liens on many pieces of equipment, like front end loader and planer and saws etc. If we can find him we will confiscate these items too.
He is big time trouble. Read the other reports on him. Same scam every time. Polite, soft spoken, TAMU educated, seems like a good guy....WRONG! He seems to always run out of money and never completes a project and leaves his customer holding the bag.
Stay away from Thomas Barron, Beemr Construction. He will take your money and cause you a hell of alot of pain and suffering and grief.
