Corporate Advocacy Program™
I have been in contact with both Tiger Direct and On-rebate to honor what was advertised but shot down due to the fact that I did not enclose the UPC that was inside the plastic clamshell the OEM processor came on a little piece of paper.
All other paperwork I sent in to include the INVOICE from Tiger Direct themselves. Here is our email correspondence:
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for your e-mail , we apologize for the inconvenience, please note that we advise all customers to keep copies of all documentation submitted to the rebate companies. Please note that in order to assist you we will need the required documentation. For further assistance, please contact the rebate company for advice.

I have recently purchased a Pentium D CPU (WFL BB015700) and Ultra 1024 memory Stick (WFL FA041800) both of these had rebates. $100 & $40 respectively (Order # I544078501028). On-rebate has disapproved the rebate due to the fact there was not a UPC included. I threw out the boxes because there wasn't a UPC on the OEM processor. On-rebate stated that it was Tiger Direct who requires them to process the rebate. I sent in everything else to include the invoice from Tiger Direct with my name on it.
I spoke with a Customer service rep. from Tiger Direct who stated the UPC was on a little piece of paper inside the plastic clamshell. You have records of my purchase, I have records of my purchase. We need to sort this out because I would hate to believe this is ploy by either party to not honor what was advertised. I am not your best customer by far, but I am a customer.
And this one which of course I have not had a response to:
I do not think that I'm a valued customer if you do not plan to help me on this. This my be above us and require settlement through litigation. I do not wish to give companies like yourself my money for free. If you advertise something then it should and will be honored.

Of course Tiger may or may not reply stating that they wish to help but the fact is I asked for help and did not receive it. I I staed to them I am not their best customer but I am (or was) a customer. Am sincere for pressing forward with litigation. I do not think that any corperation in the USA should be able to get away with this.

I have also returned two products and my account, or credit card was credited within 30 days from Tiger Direct.
James, you should'nt bad mouth an otherwise highly creditable company like Tiger Direct, just because you did'nt follow directions. I always gather all paperwork after opening the box, and pay particular attention to any small pieces of paper before I put the item in question to the test.
You, and you alone failed to follow the rebate proceedures, and are therefore not entitled to your rebate. Any reasonable attorney would tell you the same thing. Litigate all you want, but you will only come up with what you have now. No case.

OOPS! My Mistake...

The truth is they were five marines and one Navy corpsman.

Let's get to the heart of the matter.
Here we have a man who refuses to take responsibility for losing the stupid UPC and wants his rebate anyway. If he is turned down because he didn't comply with the requirements then he falls back on his war record to prove that he deserves special treatment anyway and plays the victim.
There's a national monument called the Iwo Jima Memorial where soldiers are raising an American flag. One of those same soldiers depicted in that monument died a homeless, hopeless drunk.
I guess the question then becomes, "What did you do .........SINCE the war, daddy?"
I'm all for crooked and corrupt companies getting exposed on here and I am sooo happy and thankful that this site exists. But let's be fair about it, ok? Let's not abuse this power and become just like the companies we want to expose.

Not a valid complaint...

But to be fair, I cannot for the life of me see how a person could refuse to comply with the rebate requirements and still hope to get money out of them. The UPC on processors I have bought from Tiger all came on a package label as big as the plastic that enclosed them. It's not just some scrap of paper that is waiting to blow away as soon as you open the package.
I have no patience with a company that sets out to fleece its customers, but by the same measure I must defend any company that seeks to protect itself from customers who want to fleece them. How are they to know that someone won't apply for a second rebate -- keeping the UPC ratholed to use on try #2 once the company submitted to intimidation and threats of bad reviews on here and paid out?

Thank you for emailing us your information. Please be advised that the inclusion of a product's UPC code is vital criteria for any rebate offer; this is made clear to all customers on any rebate form provided. There is no substitute for the UPC code, nor is any exception ever made under any circumstances for any rebate submissions missing the UPC code, even if the rest of the required information was submitted properly.
Denial of any rebate under these circumstances is by no means any indication of unethical practice, and is not to be interpreted as such. To honor a rebate despite a customer not including an important piece of required information is to ignore company policy, which is something we obviously cannot do.
Sincerely,
Alex
