I received an email for a special from TigerDirect as I am a
current customer. The sales was on an HDTV LG model 60PK540 there item # L49-6030.
The sale was from 4/5/2011 to 4/7/2011 11:59PM. The price was $1099 I went to
order the product on 4/6/2011 place the item in my shopping cart and when check
out the item disappeared. I started over and find that item was only available
at their stores which are over 2000 miles away. I called and they told me they
were running low and had no more on order but keep watching the web page as
they me reallocate some stock to the internet sales.

The next day 4/7/2011 the item reappeared as available on the Internet but the
price moved up $200 to $1299. I can get this same price at Costco and get a 2
year warrantee, and no shipping charges. A called TigerDirect to see why and
they claimed they got new stock in but will not honor the sale price. [continued below]....

..... I had
them elevate the issue to their marketing team but they would not move claiming
the new stock (which they claimed the day before was not on order) was bought
at a higher price so they could not afford to honor the price. They claimed
they would loose money at this $1099 price. Nobody in retail work off that low
a margin.

Totally misleading advertizing. I will never buy from them again. They lost a
customer over $200.

Problem resolved

AUTHOR: Bobbbo - (United States of America)

After a few days since I wrote this report, I was contacted by TigerDirect's Customer Service. They claimed the price had gone up on the HDTV and it would be sold for a loss at the sale price. They did offer to sell me the HDTV at their cost and ship it for free, which resulted in the price delivered being the same as the sale.

I am please with TigerDirect's timely response and resolution of the problem. I do recommend that they change their policy on their sale items to clearly state there is a limited number available, or provide "Rain Checks" if out of stock.

Though I spent a lot of time on this issue, I would buy from TigerDirect again.

Not Correct

AUTHOR: Bobbbo - (United States of America)

I ordered the HDTV within 24 of it going on sale, more than
48 hours before the sale ended. The item went out of stock while I was ordering
it (but was available at the sale price in your retail stores). I was told by
your sales team to wait to see if more became available for Internet sales as
the sale was still on. He also said there were no more of that model on order.
It became available about 18 hours before the sale ended but at a $200 higher
price. I called again and another sales person said the new inventory (that
supposedly was not on order) was purchased at a higher price and he would have
to check with the Marketing Department to see if they would honor the current
sale price. Surprisingly he did call back and told me the same story of the
higher price and said I was out of luck. Then he claimed that he TigerDirect
would loose money if they were to sell me the HDTV at the sales price.

I know how retail works as I sold to retailers in my old business of electronic
products like this. Retailers purchase products at around 50% of their sale
price. So the $1,100 set was purchased for $550 and the $1300 set was bought
for $650, $100 more. If TigerDirect were to sell the HDTV for the $1100 sale
price on the new inventory, TigerDirect would still would make $450. Being a
reputable retailer, you would think that TigerDirect would take the small
profit hit of $100 to keep a good customer. I have never experienced a retailer
not honoring a sale price when they have product in stock. In fact in all my
experience when a item runs out of stock you usually can get a rain check for
the sale price so when the item once again becomes available.

New inventory

AUTHOR: Ernie E. - (U.S.A.)

Dear Customer,

I have looked into this matter for you and our records indicate the item price was increased on 04/17 due to new inventory being higher priced. Unfortunately this does happen from time to time as we get inventory from various sources at different prices. In order to stay competitive we must raise or lower prices based on this criteria.

I would like to work with your regarding this issue and offer you this unit at our best possible price, you may contact me at ernie@help.tigerdirect.com to further discuss this matter.

I look forward to hearing from you, and I apologize once more for the inconvenience.

Best Regards.
