I'm a current Time Warner internet customer about to enter my 11th of 12th month of service.  I signed up for a twelve month promotion where the price would be fixed for that entire duration.  However, I recently got another bill and noticed that it was just over $5 more than what I usually pay.  I emailed the company to inquire why I'm paying more since the promotional period should still be on and got the following response:

"I have reviewed your account and the promotion you are receiving includes Standard Internet at a monthly discounted rate of $39.95 plus tax for 12 months.  This promotion started on 8/19/11 and ends on 7/18/12."

I wrote back that those dates they mentioned only covered 11 months and am waiting to hear back from them.  Beyond this I don't have any other proof, but I have a gut feeling that this was not done on accident and that Time Warner was trying to sneak this charge on my account in hopes that I don't notice.  Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Time Warner Ripoff

I want to write in response to your concern about Time Warner, I to has had the same problem about them charging  $5.00 extra for my internet. I'm on a 24 month program and was told that every year in January that they will raise prices even tho we all are on price guarantees. The $ 5.00 was for Standard Internet, I was on Turbo and who changed me then charged me $5.00 extra each month. So got downgraded without me knowing and then raised my prices. I asked a Latisha today about why,when we are in price locks you raise our prices, but when we want to cancell, you threaten to bill me for $150.00 to cancell. They ended my first 24 months only after 18 months and jacked my bill for $101.00 to $143.00 fo the same junk. If anyone has noticed that on the cable guide you will see the same programs 3 or 4 times. so why am I paying for all these channels and it's exactly the same shows? No one can answer that question. I told her too to cancell everything cause I lost my job in April. Went from $ 42,00.00 a year to little over $9,000.00. can't afford. She told me she did not understand . I told the idiot that I have $ 5.00 a month to live on after I pay my rent. and I could not afford your services anylonger. She again said that she did not understand. What part of what I said you did not understand.? So said turn off all my services as of right now. She then said I can't cause a tech has to come out to claim your cable box until then there is nothing I can do. BS I told her, hit that button on your dsk there and turn itoff.If you can reset my cable box from Blue Ah Ohio then you can turn it off now. I can use my free cell phone with unlimited eveything including the internet . Believe this or not SHE STILL DID NOT UNDERSTAND AND THOUGHT I NEEDED A TECH SENT OUT. and they have the nerve for the last 3 weeks to cancell one of our local stations because they did not want to pay the pennies per day to have them on with Time Warner. Alot of people cancelled their service. Me one of them as of today.

Update: I received an email from their customer service who acknowledged the error and my account was credited the extra $5.
