I wanted to submit this complaint so it may help others not to get caught up in the scam I did. I paid Timeshare Travels $1999.00 in Jan. of 2009 to sell my timeshare in Myrtle Beach. I originally paid $12,000 for the week and a sales representative at Timeshare Travels said I could easily get $24,000 for the timeshare in 60 days. At the 60 day mark I had heard NOTHING from this company after repeated attempts to contact them. The person I spoke to initially had left the company and I was referred to customer service, etc..... I took matters into my own hands and hired an investigator to find out more on this so called re-sale company. I was shocked to find out not only has this company changed names and is operating as Timeshare Depot Inc. (www.timesharedepotinc.com), but they have contacted me again trying to sell me a exchange membership and to advertise my Myrtle Beach timeshare to sell for $2000.00 fee. Furthermore, I was told that they also are not at the address listed on the website, but located on Federal Hwy. in Boca Raton less than a mile from the Timeshare Travels office location. The investigator also stated that Timeshare Travels had to pay a hefty fine to the State of Florida over $190,000. Also, the employees have to have a state commercial sales license and there are some people working "Under the Radar" without a sales license. I cannot believe the State of Florida is allowing scams like this to continue on a daily basis. I hope that if anyone is contacted by Timeshare Depot Inc. will hang up the telephone immediately

Timeshare Travels Scam

AUTHOR: StephieW - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, December 17, 2013

The resale of a timeshare is a legitimate business. Companies agree to advertise a timeshare for a fee on their websites. As with advertising, the membership doesn´t need to sell in order the fees to be legitimate. The difference between an honest timeshare resale company and a scam, is when the company falsely suggest they have a buyer waiting for their timeshare, or picture unrealistic, overoptimistic selling possibilities

The State of Florida cannot stop every scam from happening, but the only way we can stop them is if we know about them.... file a complaint with the State besides your ripoff-report....
