I had a spayed female Boston female and her 9 month old daughter (intact) that I was looking to rehome. I was contacted by Kelly Schram from Bellevue,Nebraska who offered the perfect home for both dogs. She said she was a former Chihuahua breeder and since her 2 dogs were older now and less active, she felt it was time to get a couple small dogs with
a bit more energy. She was looking for pets that would love everyone, like to go on car rides and be good with kids as she was expecting a grandchild soon.
She sent the deposit via Wal-Mart money gram with the rest to be paid in cash at time of delivery. Arrangements were made for her to drive to my house to get them. She was driving 1250 miles round trip, another factor in me deciding she was a great person and really wanted my dogs. She signed a contract stating that she was purchasing the dogs as pets, would spay the second female immediately and would contact me for first right of refusal if she ever needed to rehome them. Everything most breeders would want from a new home.
When time came for her to drive to my home, she informed me that her truck driving husband was not able to accompany her and she would have to bring her pregnant daughter instead. She asked if she could pay me for my time and gasoline if I would meet them part way. I agreed. We met (500 miles round trip for me), she DID NOT have cash. She explained that she had to leave so early in the morning to meet me that the bank was not yet open. She had gone to the ATM but could only get out a small amount due to the daily limits imposed on her account. I honestly should have just got back in my car with my dogs and gone home but the red flags didnt jump out at me. I am usually a pretty good judge of character but my intuition failed me. I fell for her story and accepted a check for the balance due ($750). I did not even include anything extra for my time or gas as I was just so convinced that this was a great home and I was thankful I had found her.
So, Id driven 500 miles, the check ends up being written on a closed account under the name "Tiny Tot Chihuahuas" and I have no dogs. She stays in contact via phone and email for about 10 days and says she is going to money gram the balance as her check book had been stolen and she had to close the account. Excuse after excuse, no money gram and basically telling me I was an evil person for even thinking she might be stealing my dogs.
Eventually no contact she does not answer emails, texts or take my phone calls. My dogs have now been gone for almost 2 weeks and I decide I will just drive to Nebraska myself and get my dogs back as I realize the huge mistake Ive made and I do not want my dogs living with someone I do not trust.
I placed a message on FB looking for someone to drive by the address Id been given before I head out as I want to make sure I am not driving 1250 miles to an abandoned building. I am answered by the Nebraska Boston Terrier Rescue. A volunteer had seen my dogs up for sale in a Craigslist ad just two days prior and Rescue had purchased them. Had they not, I would never have known what happened to my girls.
After the fact I have learned that this woman attempted to "purchase" at least 10 boston terriers around the same time she stole mine. She is actively attempting to obtain more dogs at this time.
This is definitely not a woman looking for a sweet, little pet to join her home. She is stealing dogs and reselling them!!!
I know she got my dogs through deceit did not pay for them and then sold them on Craigslist exactly 13 days after getting them. Yes, I was wrong inmy choice of picking a safe family for my dogs but that is all I am guilty of here. I failed my dogs but I am not a liar nor a thief she is.
The woman in question is:
Kelly Schram AKA Kelly Miner AKA Sissy Miner
