My daughter dropped off her car for spark plugs.    They called later in the day,  said the spark plugs were not bad and they had tested them, but would just flush the fuel system and not pick up the car until the next day.    My daughter picks up the car the next morning about 8:30am- by 10:30am the car is making all sorts of noise, stalling  and shutting off.     Tire Kingdom sends a pickup truck to tow the car back since it is not drivable.      Now we are being told it needs a new engine.     Car blows up 2 hours after it is serviced and Tire kingdom is saying it's not their fault and wants to call a third party who they pay to claim the damage is not a result of the work they preformed on the vehicle.   What an irresponsible company this is!

They dont care

AUTHOR: jim - ()

I remember your car, black or dark blue ford escape. The tech that worked on your car ran the 3 step too fast and blew up the engine.Tire Kingdom does not care about you since they already got your money.

Update 5/1

Four weeks later- still calling and emailing both Tire Kingdom Corporate and Segdwick Insurance regarding a blown engine.   I needed sparks plugs,   Tire Kingdom performed 3 step fuel system cleaner which after doing research found out that could also have caused the engine to fail.    Apparently,  this fuel system cleaner is a big money maker for auto centers and it does require some expertise when done.  According to auto dealerships,  fuel system cleaner can damage your engine.

Segdwick Insurance is a scape goat for Tire Kingdom.    Tire Kingdom causes damage to your car, then claim they are getting a third party involved- Segdwick Insurance.   Segdwick is paid by Tire Kingdom.   Everytime you call their corporate office, they have Segdwick contact you instead of resolving the issue.   Sedgwick refuses to pay a claim saying Tire Kingdom is not responsible for the damage.      Bottom line- if you need work done to your vehicle, take it to a car dealership.    Tire Kingdom and Merchants Auto are one big corporation.    Very irresponsible corporation that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to our vehicle.    Nightmare.  Pay the extra money and get all your service from a car dealership!

Update Tire Kingdom

More Info- The vehicle was not having any serious mechanical issues and there were no lights on the dash indicating to check engine.   The car was skipping abit on large inclines.    After speaking to many people and calling some auto repair shops, we were told the spark plugs are usually to blame.   Besides the skipping on an incline, the car was running perfectly.  Very smooth, no hesitation, no stalling,  nothing.

We were surprised at the prices we were quoted for spark plugs but were told since the vehicle was a V6,  pricing included an hour and a half of labor since some of the spark plugs are not easily accessible. When I called to get an appointment, a  Tire Kingdom employee even mentioned the price was high since they have to tilt the engine to get to the back spark plugs.   After doing some internet research, the car we have had a recall on it for a RCM module (electronic timing control) which makes it appear as the spark plugs need to be changed- but it's actually the RCM module needs to be replaced or reset.

I am finding everyone in this company is trying to cover up what actually occured by stating a fuel injection cleaning would not cause engine damage.    The vehicle went in for spark plugs!    Tire Kingdom is covering up the fact that the car went in for spark plugs and their mechanics did more than just a fuel injection cleaning.

I was originally told I would be contacted by someone in their corporate office within 24-48 hours.   Never happened! It's been 4 days now. I have contacted the call center in Atlanta many times and will continue to call area and regional managers.

I was informed a third party would inspect the vehicle.  Tire Kingdom has opened a claim with Sedgwick to inspect the vehicle.   Tire Kingdom pays Sedgwick to determine the cause of the damage.   This is of course to free themselves of any responsibility.

Car engine blows up 2 hours after being serviced at Tire Kingdom.  Tire Kingdom response:  we are not responsible.    Car has about $3400-$4000  worth of damage now and is not drivable.

Do yourself and your car a favor and stay clear of Tire Kingdom.
