I went to Tire Zone a little over a week ago and had 4 used tires put on my car. While they were putting on the tires I never got out of the car and when they were done I paid them through the window. They told me the price would be 25.00 each and the total being 100.00 even. When they were done they tried to charge me 112.00 and they told me that there would be a 3.00 tire removal fee per tire, which of course =12.00. After stairing at them for a second because I could hardly understand what they were saying because these guys have a spanish accent and not hardly understanding what they meant, one guy finally said that if I remove the tires myself that they will not charge a fee. I then realized what they have been trying to tell me. Ok so of course I loaded up the old tires in my trunk! I paid the guy and left there allready a little upset because the guys who used to run the place never charged a tire removal fee on used tires...I get home and decide that I will take a quick look at the tires and I seen that one tire was noticably bigger than the other tires, not only was this tacky looking but dangerous also.

I drove back to Tire Zone and very politely told one of the guys what the problem was and he had the nerve to say that they were all the same size, I disagreed and he got the manager in which agreed that one tire was larger and said that it was the closest size tire to mine and would not hurt to drive it like that. I told him that the car also felt bumpy when driving and felt heavier too and that I thought it would be dangerous to drive. He said that they doubt that they have another tire that would be the same size as mime and he would not even check either. He said that he could balance the tire out by putting it on the back but would not exchange the tire or would not even check and see if they had another one. I was very dissapointed but agreed to balance the tire out and he assured me that everything would be fine. I told myself when I got the money that I would just take it somewhere else and get a different tire put on because now I was broke. After I left there I tried to forget the situation and knowing that I will not step foot in Tire Zone again. Five days after I left Tire Zone I had one tire go bad, I woke in the morning to find my tire flat outside my house and was late for work. Four days after that I had one more tire to go bad while driving down the road. I am sure that I didn't run over a nail and I know that Tire Zone ripped me off on shot used tires and an oversized tire. Avoid Tire Zone at all costs, this is a hassle and too much trouble to go through. I could have bought new tires instead of being ripped of by these crooks.

AUTHOR: Ms. Little - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 11, 2011

About a year ago, on suggestion from my brother in-law, I went to Tire Zone for a slow leak in one of my tires.  He cautioned me they are a good place to plug tires but not to buy.  I went there and was very satisfied with the work.  On 4/26/11, I went there for the same issue with another tire.  The man told me, I really needed to replace the tire, not repair it.  I knew this to be true by what he pointed out on the tires.  So I told him I would purchase 2 front tires and come back in two weeks to purchase 2 more for the rear.  The price for the two tires plus installation was $60.  It took him awhile to get the tires, he puts them on and while I was paying him, he commented on the quality of the tires and how I saved.  He also told me my rim was a little bent on the driver's side so I will feel a little vibration.  The tire size seemed fine but they were different brands, which was ok with me since I was getting them at a good price from a discount tire store.  My drive home was fine and I was happy.  The next day, I went to work which is about 40 miles away from home up 400.  The tires vibrated constantly.  I dealt with this for a week, thinking that it was just my rim as the guy told me.  However something inside of me was telling me something was wrong.  So I went back to the shop talked to the same guy about the vibration, confirmed with him that the tires were the right size for my car.  He told me they are and I needed to remember they are used tires.  I accepted this.  Yesterday morning very close to work (thank God), the vibration got really bad.  I thought I had a flat.  I got to work and no flat.  I was thinking well maybe it is an axle.  So I called a mechanic and made an appointment to come in right after work to get the axle checked.  After work, I decided to take Roswell Rd to the mechanic instead of taking the highways.  I had traveled about 10 miles when I heard a cracking sound, I knew the tire on my passenger side had blown.  I pulled over and to my surprise the tread had come off in two different places.  It was hitting up against the top of my car and it made a horrible sound.  I knew I had just passed Butler Tire on Roswell about 4 blocks down.  In all that traffic, I put on my emergency lights and got to Butler.  The man told me the other front tire would blow soon and I knew I had to replace my rear 2.  I had no other choice but to buy a total of 4 tires from them.  The cost was 323 for everything,.  They worked with me and I did not have a bent rim.  The two tires I got from Tire Zone lasted  two weeks, cost me money, time, safety and a peace of mind.  I will never buy tires from them again.  I caution anyone who buy tires from them....Do Not Do It.

i have been shoping with tire zone since it was a little room with wheels across the street from the building ther in now. in fact the previous owner and this one are good friends of my family that owns the thai restaurnt down the street. any place u go includes the cost of tire removal the have too. if joe the old owner didnt charge for it he actually did. he just added into the cost of the new tire which once again all places do. i have gotten tires for all my performance cars there not used cuase used tires are bad. if ur going to get a used tire it should ony be a temporay fix for 1 tire till u can get a new one. not a whole set. how long were u expecting used tires to last 2 years the most i think i have ever got out of a used tire was maybe 2 months. these are good people that bought this company from the previous owner cause he wasnt makeing any money and was retireing.i will always go to them for tires and rims cause they do know what there doing.

Brandy, it's all of the extras that drove up the price

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Brandy,

Trust me, that price is way too high. They are selling you the extras like roadhazard, etc.

And, they are selling you name brands.

You CAN get an OFF BRAND tire for that car for less than $35, guaranteed. I see them advertised all the time $27.99, etc.

And, if they try charging you a "disposal" fee, tell them you will take the old ones with you. Then toss them in a dumpster or put them out by the road with your trash. Someone will pick them up.

You really did not save anything at all in buying these used tires, as you have had nothing but problems, and still have to replace them again!

Another solution would have been to just replace the 2 worst ones first, then when you got more money replace the other 2.

I forget the size but they are very small tires!

AUTHOR: Brandy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 02, 2007

1991 Honda Civic EX, I forget the size but they are very small tires! I went to get price checks at Tires Plus, Big 10 Tires, and a few other places in one day and all the places were estimated at about 195.00-230.00 for 4 tires and I didn't want to get new ones without the alignment which would be A total of about 260.00. and I just didn't have the money. What I don't understand is I had a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina with larger tires and I had all tires put on for 150.00 for new inexpensive tires. This was about a year and half ago so I don't know if these tire places went up on there prices in a year or if those tires are actually cheaper on that car. I have been considering going to just get a price check for the tires alone and having someone put them on as I know that tire places charge a lot of waist fees, etc. When I get the money if I can get the tires for about 30-35 dollars a tire I will take it somewhere and have them put it on for me. I will still be paying at least 150.00 for all the tires though if I can find them at a low price and not including labor for the tires. I also know that my alignment needs to be fixed before putting on new tires!

Brandy, you never said what size tires you bought

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 31, 2006

Brandy,

You say you have a Honda? What size ar the tires?

These are generally cheap, even new. You can get an off brand tire like Douglas, or similar for like $30 each for that car.

These would be far better than buying used and for about the same money.

Re: Tire Zone

POSTED: Sunday, December 31, 2006

Thanks, I know and I plan on still doing that when I get the money is just getting new tires because my car needs it and adding allignment also. I have bought more tires on my Honda than fixing anything else on the car but those tires were really bad tires and should have lasted a lot longer. I had used tires put on before that lastes a really long time so I thought these would too. I have heard that a good bit of people get ripped off by new tire companies as well and so I will have to do some research I guess.

I think the best bet is to buy the tires and letting my trusted mechanic put the tires on my car. I seen them putting tires on someones car last time I went there and the guy said it is cheaper than going by a tire company and having them doing it and just is good or better than the tire comapnies who charge so much extra fees. Plus my mechanic is honest and I trust them. Thanks for your advice!

Buying a used tire is like buying a used condom

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 30, 2006

you don't know where it has been....

I can buy new tires for $65 to $125 (Michelins). Other brands are less, and while not as good as Michelins, they should be far, far better than a used tire.... and you can get them in matched sizes!

So, yea, as you posted, you "...could have bought new tires instead of being ripped of by these crooks."
