I took my new car in to this Tires Plus Location on 12/28/03 to get my brakes repaired. The anti-lock brake light was on and also ths "service engine soon" and "trac off".I have traction control being a new car and all the indicator lights came on at the same time so I knew it was my brakes. I took the car in right away because i drive in south florida and have to need to have good brakes to be safe.
I chose Tires Plus simply because they were open on a sunday, instead of going to goodyear which was my 1st choice.1st mistake.I brought the car in and explained I also would Like my tires rotated and balanced while it was there. Also told the tech. to please check EVERYTHING out so my car would be tip top. They quoted me a very good rate on the brake pads 89.99 what a deal, right? they said 1 hour, 2 hours later I called and they said the car was ready.
The Tech said everything looked great and i was ready to go. When i drove away i still heard some grinding noise(Rotors) and felt uneasy. Regardless,I trusted the work was done and went home. 2nd mistake. The next morning the brake light came on again,i immediatley called the shop to let them know, explaining to them that i work and drive in south fl and need to be able to stop on a dime, that it didn't seem the brakes felt any diff.
They guareented that pads were put on the car and i could go to a tire plus in davie so they could check them out. I work all week so i took a day off fri 1/04/04 to take my car to the davie tire plus so they can check the work.Well, here it goes -on the way there i rear end someone due to brake FAILURE!!!!! To Make this looong so long story short. i recieved a wriiten estimate for a master cylinder, left front caliper, and new rotors approx.$500.00. i much would rather have paid this the original time around and not been in a accident. 1st one ever!!!
the Police report says Brake failure, matter of fact the police would not allow me to drive the car any distance because it was deemed unsafe. Now i have a smashed new car,a accident on my perfect record and spending hundreds on a rent a car.I have been around and around With corporate office and the 2 managers from both stores. The managers respone when i told him about the accident was,and i quote "you were fine when you left here."Is he insane?
I have given every chance for this company to rectify the situation. All i get is run around. I am Posting this after reading the numerous reports about this company and also in hopes of maybe getting some advice. Isn't it illegal to let me drive away with bad brakes? I have already consulted a lawyer. The seem very eager to take this on.I guess in the end we will see who gets the "bad breaks"
