Tires Plus Tires plus refused to fix my vehicle unless I spent an extra $667.00 on unnecessary parts and labor. Wausau, Wisconsin

well Marty the problem today is i my self see these so called A S E certificates who are only book smart and to not know how to use a brake lathe or a scope machine and so on as far as ball joints being replace is not to hard to do unless they really do not have a clue then the biggest problem is A S E dose not check to see if a person is being trained or they have a friend lying for them, what i do know is how tires plus works and how they scam people out of there hard earned money and some of there managers are still wet behind there ears meaning they are so young so they can be trained like a monkey further more i know what you are saying and that is some auto part stores like auto zone give bad advice to there customers who are trying to save them self some money so back to tires plus they sold a set of four shocks to a lady for her ford bronco 2 and K Y B are not cheap and will not fix her problem or a man who was told his vehicle failed smog cause of a timing chain most of all tires plus has so many bad faith claims it's not funny.  and beside this when i hear the word mechanic i cringe or when i hear lube tech as there is nothing technical etc as most of my work is undoing other peoples mistakes who have no idea on what they were doing in the first place or i am in court to inform the judge that said customer was being taken advantage of and in most states people do not know they can go to the DMV to have a repair shops license revoked further more tires plus rep named Steve has no clout or power to make things right for customers who are not happy,

yes there are some out there who are looking for someone to blame but in my state a lone there are over thousand complainants against them and thats the northern part only so over all i tell people how it is and that they should not do something they do not know in the first place as most of my work is done on vehicles that cost more than a home but do daily drivers as well and donate my time and free parts to those who can not afford it as i know i said that before but to me it's called paying it forward so with that being said have a nice day.

  The man said that he was a mechanic,and you just seemed alittle to one sided to me.But your welcome to take anyones side that you please.Just for the record I'm not a mechanic,I'm a parts changer but I've never had any problems working on cars.I've seen to many dishonest things done to people by so called mechanics,more so by these chain stores.So he got his problem fixed and everything is good.

The reason I made the commit was to verify that he even had the part installed correctly and that it was not damaged when he was installing that part. The reason I asked if he got a second opinion is that I am taking his word over, a trained ASE Certified mechanic who had to verify and to prove his mechanic skills so he or she could get that certification, verus a person as far as I know does not have any training or experience working with cars. I have bought many used cars from people that think they were all that and more at fixing cars and it cost me a lot of money to undue their mistakes, verus if they took it to someone who know how to actually fix a car. Their is shops that will try to rip you off too so I always get a second or if neccesary a third opinion if it sounds fishy what they are telling me. It was totaly uncalled for saying that "FYI your so full of  sh*t OK ".  You may disagree about what I said but that does not make me a liar either. I have learned this from experiences I have had with buying used cars and driving with people that have had their cars repaired with DIY mechanics that ran worse than it did before. Their is mechanics that do know what they are doing but their is alot more mechanics that think they know what they are doing and they don't.

All I would ask for is some documentation that he has proved his mechanical ability. That would have great weight against any mechanic shop without a second opinion such as an ASE Certification, or a diploma from a vocational or mechanic school. If he does not have any documentation that he has proved his mechanical ability, Then we are taking his word that he has the expertise, knowledge, and the tools to do the install correctly and that he did not damage it. In this case he did get a second opinion and he was in fact being riped of at that tires plus location. I am not calling him a liar. I am just asking for proof that it was in fact an actual rip off and not a case were he did not install it correctly and he falsely accuses Tires Plus. The person took it to another shop and they confirmed that they were trying to rip him off.

   Any other comment I had was not for you,I thought that would be noticeable,but I guess not.

well Marty i my self just do not read codes from a scanner as i use many other tools to perform my job and to make sure that my customers are happy as there is more to it than just reading code numbers as to find out why the scanner read those codes or code, as some do not know why or what caused the code or codes as the E C M or P C M is telling the scanner that a relay or a sensor letting the tech know were to start looking so he or she can fix the problem what a scanner will not tell you is if said parts are bad or good or if they are really not the problem so with today's newer vehicles there are so many sensors and relays one must know what they do or what they do not do or which one affects the other one that might be causing a problem. and there is a difference between certain codes did you know that and do you know how to do a rebuild of many of  your vehicles complicated working parts like your transmission rear end transfer case or a parasitic draw or a phantom problem most of all it's all about knowledge and common sense and i have that, and then i have the right tools to do my job as my tools are not cheap all snap on accept my volt meter a fluke and with out that and a scanner no one can fix such complicated vehicles of today that have so many electrical components so to say all of my customers are happy with my work and the money i have saved them over the yrs plus i donate my time to those who can not afford high price service most of all i work with insurance companies when there has been a claim where a repair shop has caused damages or if they were just throwing parts in and hoping they fix the problem as i have a list of shop who are considered badfaith and non compliant in northern Nevada.

   I've been working on my own cars for 40 years but I'm not certified,so does that mean I don't know what I'm doing?Then the part about highly trained made me laugh,does that make them honest?The techs as they call them today are taught to read a code reader and code book,where as a mechanic you tell your problem to and he tells you what's wrong,which one would you rather have.

FYI your so full of  sh*t OK as i have said before there is book smart and being able to do the job and then there is a difference between a mechanic and a tech so i say keep it real cause you give bad advice furthermore tire plus is none to be non compliant to addressing customer complaints as you are trying to say that more than 500.00 people are lying i think not, as i have said me being a master A S E level 2 tech with over 30 plus yrs i have seen there poor work and plus they want most vehicles on there alignment rack so they can up sell them and will set the toe in to try to stop a vehicle from pulling so there you have it.

I am glad that they were able to get your car algined. I was trying to see if you got a second opinon. Which you did at midas that was not in your orignal complaint. I would recomend that you file a complaint at their corporate office to let them know they tried to sell you parts that were not needed becuase I know Tires Plus Corporate will crack down on employees that do that.

A couple day after I took my Durango to Tires Plus I stopped is at the local Midas shop. I set up my appointment and came back a few days later. The guy who did the alignment there said there no issues and did the alignment. I couple of hours later I paid the man and drove my vehicle away. It drives like a dream, straight as an arrow. The cost...$69.99. Been driving it about a week now with no problems. Thank you Midas!!!

I know some shops can try to take you for a ride for parts, But the problem with your complaint is that we are taking your word that you installed those ball joints correctly, and that you knew what you were doing when you installed them. The reason  I say this is because I have bought used cars in the past by these so called do it yourself mechanics and run into major problems because they did not know what they were doing they just thought they knew. It would of helped your complaint if you took it to another mechanic shop to verify or disprove your claim but you didn't. Do you have an ASE Certification because Tires Plus employees do which verifies their mechanical knowledge. Do you have any vocational school or trade training in mechanics. The reason I ask this is because you are making a serious allegation against a company that highly trains their employees and they also will go after shops that sell unnecessary parts and repairs.
