Todd Crawford came to Indian Lake near Shanksville, Pennsylvania and rented a boat from Indian Lake Marina, Inc. Mr. Crawford is currently a real estate agent in Everett, PA (located in Bedford County) and as of Sept. 19, 2014 is affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices out of their office in Chambersburg.
Mr. Crawford signed a rental contract agreeing to the terms of the rental. The rental contract is for the use of a boat as well as for the gasoline used during the boat rental. All charges for the rental are collected after the rental, so we know how much gas was used. Mr. Crawford said that he wanted to pay by check and we are local, family-run place that trusts people and we do things like that. We sent many reminders and phone calls, and Mr. Crawford promised to pay repeatedly. On a a few occasions, he would say that he would bring a check to us the next day, but he would never show up. When I threatened to file a claim in District Magistrate court, he offered to pay $25 per week on a prepaid credit card, but after a few weeks, he stopped doing that, too.
I eventually filed a claim in District Magistrate court and got a judgement against him.
