I ordered a custom notebook from the Toshiba site. While still under warranty the computer began overheating and put up a dialog box to contact the repair center. I called Toshiba's service center and they gave me an RMA number and strongly recommended that I pay $25.95 for a box and postage to send in my computer even though I had the original packaging. When they received the computer they posted on their status website that the computer did not qualify to be repaired under warranty because it was "damaged." They want $335 to fix the computer. The only way to pay is to fill out their form and send it in with my credit card information. You cannot pay over the phone, but I have no intention of paying. The computer was not damaged when I sent it to them other than the overheating problem. I called their help number but no reply to multiple calls. I sent an email asking what the damage was. No reply. I cannot reach a human having called several Toshiba help center numbers.

While waiting for an answer, I began researching this facility and noticed other scam reports similar to mine. Don't buy a Toshiba, they don't stand behind their warranty. If you have a Toshiba and it needs repair, I recommend finding an independent repair shop. Don't send it in to Toshiba. What a waste of time and money.
