Toshiba Of Canada Limited toshiba 32HL57 lcd tv no picture Internet, Ontario

I bought a 32" lcd tv and 17 months later there is sound but no picture on all inputs.

There are many blogs / posts out there saying the same thing with other models as well as this one, in Canada and the U.S. The cost for suggested repair (parts alone) is $200 for a unit which costs $600!

A call to Toshiba resulted in a " sorry, it's out of warranty" "take it to a repair centre for repair" "there is nothing we can do" attitude and when pressed for the presidents name, the service tech didn't know! They also didn't suggest possible components which could result in the loss of picture. I spent hours on line reading blogs / posts and it sounds like a ccfl lamp or inverter which are, of course, expensive. I will have to pay $20 for the local technician to tell me exactly what is wrong and how much for the repair including labour. I'm willing to bet that it's not worth it. $600 gone!!!

Hopefully more of the same issues will arise from other consumers That will give us all something to deal with!!!
