at its best!

I purchased a television on 11/25/2011, on 12/13/2011 the picture went black, there was sound but no picture. I called Toshiba and they set up a work order under warranty. Days turned into weeks, upon several phone calls to them I was told they have 30 days to produce the part before they would seek any alternatives. 30 days have come and gone, and the alternative solutions they have given me are either to wait for the part, or to take the tv back to the store for a refund. I called the store to inquire about this and their policy is no returns on electronics after 14 days. So I called Toshiba back and was told they do not issue the refund, and cannot give me a replacement television. So now I have a 65" paperweight, a television that I can't get repaired, refunded, or replaced. The lack of customer service from this company is very disappointing. I hope this review saves anyone else the trouble.
The television model is 65ht2u

What do warranty terms state?

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States of America)

If your warranty says in writing they must replace item after 30 days of no resolution then see if you can sue them in small claims court. If you bought from an authorized dealer for them, and they're telling you the store should take it back, then sue the store if they refuse, with documentation from Toshiba that their dealers are expected to cooperate as part of your proof.

See how much a lawyer will charge for a simple letter to them threatening action if they don't replace, if their warranty grace for repairing has passed already.

Read your warranty

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

What does your warranty say about how this will be handled? You have BARELY waited 30 days since the TV broke. If you want the TV fixed, you'll have to wait. They are correct, unless it states in your warranty information that they owe you a refund then nothing if forthcoming. most retail warranties have a clause that they can attempt to fix the item a certain number of times before they replace the unit or refund the unit. Since you are still waiting on a part, there hasn't even been an attempt to repair the unit yet. These things tend to take a long time to get resolved, my boss had his tv blow out in a similar fashion and it took 4 months for them to repair it. You have a warranty and they are legally obligated to help you, but the law doesn't state they have to do it rapidly.
