Failing the assessment is common. I applied for a different position while I worked there and failed it the second time I took it! It's all common sense, but presenting yourself too strongly will fail you.
Also, they have a habit of posting the positions on the website that aren't available. They're too lazy to update that, it seems. They aren't being racist or discriminating. Apply anywhere and they will ask you those questions. If you read the part before it, it is usually all voluntary information and will not hurt your application.
Most companies will hire people that have minor crimes on their record if it has been long enough, but I'm not sure about TRU because you work so closely with children and pregnant women every day.
Plus don't waste your degree there. They promote and hire people with less education than the 16 year old sales associates they hire. It stinks.

i mailed a resume (of which i hold a degree BA in human resource management) to the actual store in n.j. and no one called me for an interview the company assures me i have no problem or risk that my ss# and date of birth etc are in their database but MAYBE THEY SHOULD REPENT FROM TAKING DOWN AN INTEROGATION BEFORE THEY CONSIDER AN APPLICANT THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND I FEEL VIOLATED i want a response and revenge

Did they happen to be hiring for an HR assistant when you applied? How do you know they were hiring? Had the application period closed? Did you all to make sure they recieved your application or did you just not hear anything from them?
My guess, and this is just my humble opinion. They probably denied your application because of a problem with a background check or because they felt you were overqualified, or you did not have enough actual work experience (a degree does not always equal experience).
Good luck on your job hunt! I wish you the best!

Were you refused the interview for not filling out the application correctly? I know I never (willingly)interviewed anyone who did not fill out the application correctly, and certainly never recommended them for hire.
