I figured I get the TracFone for my wife for her infrequent use in NYC. So I ordered couple of TracFones, promised to be shipped next day, well took good two weeks. Instead of one of them being flip phone, it was cheap Motorola C139.
I purchased the one year "special" card that was to give me extra 200 minutes. I duly activated it over Internet, but there was no option to activate the bonus offer of extra minutes, no way to enter the code. Also tried to use the referral (bonus 100 min) but that was down and not operational. Got my basic minutes going OK.
I could not find the way to activate or correct the bonus minutes on the web, I tried to call service, only to be put on hold, "check with my supervisor" trick until line dropped, number of times. I had to do it from NYC because phone was to be used primarily there, so tying up the business phone line with endless holds and dropouts, eventually my regular minutes were used up and I had to get additional minutes card from the local store.
Finally when I got "friendly" foreign english speaking clown at the TracFone "service" dept., after about 50 minutes of waits and checks with supervisor, endless repeats of my numbers, verifications etc. (as described by others before) they told me that they can't do anything about activating minutes that I was entitled to, I would have to order additional minutes and get the new "bonus". When tried to get supervisor after another eternity of waits, just kept repeating like a parrot "sorry, we can not do anything, you have to buy additional minutes and bonus".
They had all the information, they saw that I did not receive bonus minutes and I had no way to activate them, they chose to lose customer and few more, rather than give me what I was entitled to (lousy minutes).
So instead of me being in control as advertised, they are in firm control of misleading advertising, horrible service, screwing people out of what they suppose to get for their money. So they can choke on my minutes, but I had enough of this garbage and false advertising and will not touch them and I hope to spare others from the same "service". I'd rather pay few bucks more and have decent service from other providers, no more "CrackFone".
