I got there to check in at around 3 PM upon arrival I was told I could not check until 4 PM... By a middle eastern, Middle Aged lady who was rude and seemed to be Pissed off at the world. She didn't smile or greet me as I walked in.. Just seem to be irritated that She had to get her cell phone to help me.

I explained that I had two small children who Were still in their pajamas because we had just driven for 10 hours .. also they needed to use the restroom. And ask if there was anyway I would be able to check in just one hour early. I even offered to pay for another day. She rudely stated That check-in was at 4 PM no exceptions that people were not even aloud to check in one minute early. I stood there in disbelief at how rude she was and then she snapped You're not allowed to hang out in the lobby!! there's a mall close and you should go there to use the restroom!! Then I said my family is still in the car and I'm not hanging out in the lobby I'm trying to get checked in?!?!

I again politely reminded her my children and myself were in pajamas from the long drive. And she just didn't care.

Then I pulled out my pre paid reservation receipt I had printed and set it on the counter and told her we would just go grab food then wait in the parking lot for a hour and be back at 4:00.

Then she snapped oh and that rate no longer applies you have to pay this additional amount.. I said no, I have already reserved my room at the rate of $47.50 per night and here is my conformation number and receipt. She continued to be ignorant and rude .. As I noticed all the customer service and hospitality awards sitting on the counter I had to chuckle to myself.. Because this single handedly was the WORST service I had ever had on my life.

Then I politely said " honestly I don't understand why you're being so disrespectful to me you seem like you don't even want me and my family to stay here, hopefully your just having a bad day and you don't treat everyone like this."

Then she stood up out of her chair and said " your right! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!! I HAVE CANCELED YOUR RESERVATION, You need to leave the premises before I call the authorities.

Again being utterly shocked at how I was being treated I stood there for a minute and said "you can't cancel my reservation?! Is there a manager I can talk to?" Of course she said no And advised me the manager was on vacation until Sunday morning.

At this point I was in tears. Frustrated and upset doesn't even come close to describing how I was feeling. I told her I was not leaving And she couldn't just cancel my reservation like that because I had prepaid for the room.

She then called the police and told them that I threatened her life, And she needed assistance to remove a belligerent wild guess!?!?

I never raised my voice let alone use swearwords.

I ended up leaving the hotel and booking a wonderful stay at the Hilton. It is been four days and I have yet to receive a refund. I have called and filed a formal complaint with Travelodge. My attempts to contact the manager of the hotel have been unsuccessful. I am contacting the channel 39 news And will spread the word about this horrid place.

I also started reading the reviews on the hotels on sites such as Google and yelp and was amazed to find the number of guests who had experienced the same exact problems as I had. It's hard to believe that some people had experiences even worse than my own.

Personally I have read 17 different reviews from people that have the police called to remove them and their families from the hotel.. All of them have stated the police apologized for the way they were treated at the hotel and said that unfortunately it happens quite often.

If you don't want your vacation to start off horribly avoid this place!!

And the good reviews that they do have are probably made by staff.

My final question is how on earth are these people still employed and how is Travelodge continuing to let them use their name!? I know I will never stay in another Travelodge anytime and at any price. I'd rather sleep in my car.
