First and foremost; the movers were unaware of the specifications of the move and were visibly irritated when they were informed that the move would be taking place at a 4th floor and 5th floor walk-up.  I found it highly unprofessional for Tri-State to not inform their drivers ahead of time before reaching the client that they would be handling a move which involved a great deal of stairs.  As a result, we were forced to deal with their visible displeasure of having to go up and down so many flights of stairs.  This is something that a paying client should not have to deal with or see.

In regard to the June 29th Move for Alexandra Lebron,

QUOTE#: 1066363 from 2-3 PM with a 4 hour minimum; the first thing I noticed was that the movers were a half hour late.  When they arrived they did not wrap anything.  The mattresses were taken down as they were and as a result my mattress got dirty and I ended up having to scrub it with Oxy Clean to get the street dirt off.  I had disassembled the bed so they didn't even need to bother with the bed.  Second, I understand it was a 4th floor walkup but the guys took their very sweet time doing virtually nothing to the point that my sister and myself started taking boxes down and loading the truck in order to speed up the process.

At the second stop.  The couch was not disassembled nor was the dining table.  The AC was taken out of the window but they did not want to install it in the new location in direct contradiction to what was promised in my quote.  As a result of the furniture not being wrapped; my couches fabric was torn in the move process.  Two wheels off of my file cabinet were broken off. Steven which was one of the movers was very professional and polite but his partner took too many breaks and it almost seemed as if they were doing it on purpose in order to enter into overtime.

I as a paying customer didn't pay the amount of money that I paid to have my things moved so that I would end up carrying more boxes than Tri-States own movers did. I understand that it was a 4th floor walk-up and a hot day but that is their job and I made sure to have several drinks readily available for them and I had the AC running to make things easier for them as they worked.  If the movers are unfit for the task of moving heavy things and climbing stairs; then they should seek employment elsewhere.  I was very dissatisfied with the service.  They also forgot their power drill at the second location.  I will be happy to mail it if an address is provided.

In regard to the June 30th move for Maria Lebron,

QUOTE#: 1066369  from 8-9 with a 4 hour minimum;  The guys DID wrap the furniture with black plastic wrap however, the corners of my coffee table, dresser and book case were all chipped away and damaged because they were not wrapped all the way around but sloppily through the center.  The Dining table was disassembled at the first location but not reassembled at the second location.  The picture frames were not wrapped.

Due to the fact that we had already gone through the damage of one couch the previous day; I removed the couches arms for the second move since the guys failed to do so previously.  During transport the pins to put the arms which were securely tucked away in the couches storage drawers underneath were lost.  The movers gouged a huge hole in the hallway of the location I was moving to which will be coming out of my security deposit.

Again my sister and I were forced to carry boxes in order to speed up the process due to the lack of professionalism from the men who represented Tri-State.  The move was a very short distance from one location to another, within the same area with only a 15 block driving distance.  But due to their lack of organization the move went over 4 hours which should have never happened when there were 3 men involved.  Again;  it seems as if the movers were almost trying to force the overtime on us to the point that I had to go down to the truck and supervise that they were actually moving things and not sitting around doing nothing as they previously had been.

Of the three movers who showed up there was only one of them who stood out who was very professional and did almost the entire move by himself.  The other two movers were standing outside smoking cigarettes, complaining about how hot it was and one of them even plugged in one of my fans and just sat on the stairs for almost a half hour with the fan to his face and did nothing else.  I am sorry that I didn't get the name of the one who stood out but his tip was much higher than the rest of the men and he mentioned that he had a neck disc-herniation injury (if that helps identify him)

Finally, what personally bothered me the most of the movers was that while my sister and myself were vacuuming and taking care of odds and ends while the movers were supposed to be moving boxes;  one of the movers whose name was Freddy (and I know this because he insisted on leaving us his cell number) was blatantly staring at my sisters breasts and making inappropriate comments about wanting to give her his number and wanting to hang out in future time.  I found that HIGHLY unprofessional and a deplorable representation of Tri-State.  The men were there to work not to make us feel uncomfortable with their inappropriate behavior

I was extremely grateful that Tri-State was available when there was no other moving company around; but Tri-State was not cheap.  For the money I paid I expected much better service than what we got.  I will not be recommending Tri-State to anyone due to this very unpleasant moving experience.  I will be leaving a negative review on Yelp.

Movers are called so one doesn’t have to go through the stress of having to carry their own things.  Due to the lack of professionalism displayed by the Tri-State employee’s that is exactly what we ended up doing.  We ended up paying over one thousand dollars to move our own boxes and that is just unacceptable.

Here is the reply I recieved from Hope Kroez of Tri-State Area Movers in response to the above complaint:

Correction to original post

AUTHOR: alexandralebron - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 26, 2013

The original post I made against Tri-State Area movers was misworded and may herefore leave room for misinterpretation.  In the hopes of providing clarification let me please state that; Hope Korez of Tri-State Area Movers is a administrative representative of the company and the person I had the great displeasure of working with when arranging my move.  Hope Korez did not damage my property directly but merley was the administrative worker of the company that handled my order and took down my information when trying to arrange for my move.  The Tri-State Area Movers who were on the scene at the time of my move were direclt responsible for the damage to my property.  i hope that this clarifies any misunderstanding as to the role that Hope Kroez had in the handling of my move.

Thank you.

To Whom it May Concern;

Please remove the name of the customer service representative from the title and body of your post. The title states that the individual damaged your property and that the company is also known as the individual, neither of which holds true.

The individual in the title is not a partner, and never had an equity or limited partnership with the company, she was only an employee who booked your move at your request, and provided the moving crew with the information that the customer (you) provided to her for the move. Also, the individual is not a mover, so SHE did not damage your property.

PLEASE NOTE: Often, consumers like Alexandra Lebron and Maria Lebron will attempt to not disclose pertinent information when they are making a purchase, obtaining a loan, in effort to get a lower rate or pay less for a service.

You Have 72 Hours to Remove the Name Hope Kroez From This Post Or You Will Be In Serious Financial Trouble.

Thank You,
