At the direction of Mike at Ty Ty Nurseries, I was told on November 17th that he would take my order if i insisted but they were having trouble with their website and he would appreciate it if I would call back to order after the website was repaired and down for maintenance. I didn't have a problem doing this as he told me that there was plenty of time left and that they had just started shipping trees and that they would be shipping trees for the next two weeks. I asked if there was plenty of the supply and he said there would be no problem with supplying the trees I wanted...."We have plenty of trees" he said.
I called back 4 days later on November 21st, the day before Thanksgiving and asked why the website was still not working. Mike said that he thought they were having a lot of trouble with it but didn't know exactly when it would be working again. I asked if i could then order through him since it was getting later in the week and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to order due to a holiday rush or too many orders. He then told me that there was no way for him to order the trees through him and that I would have to wait until the website got up and running. Again he said there were plenty of trees and no problem with the timing or missing a shipping date.
I kept checking in with them over the next few days and Mike said he would personally call me when the website got back up and running and that I had nothing to be concerned about.
On Monday November 26th I tried to go on their website and I found it was now working correctly but realized I had never received a phone call from Mike. I could have let that go with no problem but noticed that the prices on the website had in some cases tripled and in all cases had at least doubled.
I called to discuss this pricing increase with someone and spoke with a person who would not give me their name.
After explaining that I was told over and over that there were plenty of tree's, this person said that they would not honor the original prices and that they could not help that the website crashed and they lost 1,400 pre orders. He also said that all of the pre orders would now have to pay the higher prices just like me. This represented an $800 increase in the cost of the trees that I had been trying to order for the past 2 weeks. I asked the person if he thought that this was good business practice and he laughed and then hung up on me! Real professional! I was not angry with him or mean to him at all as i understand that he is a service tech and is not the owner. After being hung up on I did get a little mad but that led me to find a better place to spend my money
I found another nursery in Stark Brothers out of Missouri and found better service and better products. I would never use TyTy Nursery and will never recommend them to anyone. Now I see why there have been so many complaints on the Internet about them. I hope they go out of business
