U Haul - Victorville U Haul Headache Victorville California

We contacted U Haul in Victorville to have a hitch installed on our vehicle. We were quoted a price and told that a hitch for a vehicle was not in stock but could be there within 5 hours of an appt being made. When we called to set the appt for the next day they tried to charge us an additional $ 180.00 for overnight shipment of our hitch. We did not accept these charges and told them we would look elsewhere for a hitch.

My husband liking the U Haul warranty and all wanted to give them another chance. We called to see about setting an appt. When we explained what we were told the last time, we were assured that was incorrect and there woiuld not be addtional charges to have the hitch there for a next day appt. We made the appt.

Our appt was for 11:00 am. My husband wanted to make sure ebfore we drove over to drop off the vehicle that the hitch was in fact there. So I called first. I was informed that it was not there and the person that needed to go get it could not leave until the manager came in which would be in a half hour or so. I was asked to bring my vehicle ina t 2:00 instead. I told the girl I would check with my husband and call her back if that scheudle would work for us.

When I called back the guy I spoke to stated that the manager was there he didnt know why I was told that and tranferred me to her. She informed that she was headed out to get the hitch and we could bring our vehicle at 12:00.

When we dropped the vehicle off at 12:00 we were told that it would be 2 hours, 3 max. This is were the headache began.

We retuned at 2:00 and it wasnt done. We were told another 1 1/2 hours/ We returned at 3:30 and it wasnt done, in fact no one was even working on it. We told them to take off what they had done adn give us the vehicle we were leaving. They wanted to charge us for labor and some other items. They stated 15 minutes and it would be done.

4:45 it was finally completed. 4 hours and 45 minutes for a 2 hour install . We were told by employees that they were short handed, that the appt should never have been made, all kinds of excuses.

The lied to me from the beginning when I first called. I should have known better than to continue to go through with working with them. Also when we arrived they were threatening to call the police on a woman because she was upset with the way they had treated her. They had made a mistake on her contract and wa blaming her for not returning a rental truck sooner than she had rented it for. This too should have been a sign.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to this company location for anything. They will lie to you, treat you like its all your fault and the whole while, just walk around like you are of no importance to them.
