UHaul Uhaul A Ripoff Toronto Ontario

We rented a truck from Uhaul, thinking we would save money, we only had a load of furniture to move from a garage to storage. It took us a little longer to load then expected and we were not able to return the truck on time we were 3 hours late. We rented the truck just before closing at 6pm and returned the truck at 12 noon the next day. It was supposed to be $19.95 per day. I tried calling Uhaul the night we rented the truck to tell them we would be late returning it, but of coarse they have no answering machine.

The next day they called me every 5 minutes, I couldn't answer the phone as I was visiting a friend at the hospital. They left several messages asking that my husband return the vehicle immediately. I was able to answer the phone once and they said to get ahold of my husband and they would call me back in ten minutes. I was not able to get ahold of him, I called them back, but again they did not answer thier phone.

When my husband returned the vehicle at noon they told him he would get a bill in the mail for around $ 200. They then called me and left a message that the bill is $656.00 2 days rental, 2 days insurance and mileage, which added up to $220.00, then they said that they had to send the truck to be cleaned because there was some glass that had broken in the back $400 to sweep the glass from the truck. I am appauled and going to have to take them to court in order to fight this they said.
