I am extremely upset due to the fact that I owe the department of education $11,000 in student loans for a college which isn't transferrable to another. I attended UOPX with the thought I was completeing pre requiste classes for the nursing program in my local college. SHAME ON ME! I feel as though I have been betrayed and my money has been wasted. DO NOT BE FOOLED. If you are thinking about going to college go to your local community college and see what they have to offer. DO NOT BE A VICTIM OF FRAUD!

Search TipsTo the OP: Your suggestion about starting at the community college is a good one, and something I often suggest when replying to posts about higher ed. However, you (and some of the other responders) are incorrect in stating UofP credits won't transfer. They will, but the transferability of credits is always up to the receiving institution.
My suggestion is for everyone to stay away from these proprietary schools and still with the local colleges. They're far cheaper, have programs for just about everyone, and almost all of them now have online programs suitable for the working adult.
Good luck in your nursing program!

. As it turns out everything I went thru for was a good reason and in my favor. So if anyone wants a good quality education check out your local colleges, chances are they have online classes and way cheaper and the degree you obtain will be one that employers will accept, most employers do not even look at a UOP degree, they call it a degree mill. Good luck to you.

Credits from private, for-profit schools (particularly those that advertise on TV) are rarely transferrable to most other schools. An easy way to find out is to call your local university or college and ask them if they accept credits from the TV school. Sadly, the time to do that is before attending (and paying) the private, for-profit school.
Your community college suggestion is an excellent one, but if you plan on transferring from the CC to a traditional college or university later, you still need to inquire with that institution about which credits will transfer. You need to check into this before enrolling in a CC and assuming everything will be peachy.
Good luck to you.
