I have used UPS previously over 20 times shipping items overnight.I shipped two gift cards over night to an ebay customer for the value of 511.00 on 06/18/08. I checked the website and the tracking information showed the item being delivered to customer's front door.

A couple of days later customer emails me and says that the package was never received. I had to do a claim with UPS. I contacted UPS after receiving a phone call from the claims department. I spoke with a Pam who said sorry there is nothing we can do about your shipment. I for corporate number another supervisor came on the line a Fredda Halbert. She also stated that nothing could be done for their company's mistake because gift cards are not covered under their policies and to ship the item would be at the customer's risk. I was very upset about this because now I am out of 500.00 dollars.

But the worst part was that the company offered no appeasement for their actions. Nothing! no credit for the shipping cost for the item that never came, nothing, and I have been a very good customer to this company. Always read the fine print this company are theives.

How can you retailiate against UPS?? You are accepting as fact that an anonymous Ebayer did not receive the item? Everyone knows, especially around holidays, that shipments and mailings are targets for theives. Perhaps even more likely, the Ebayer that received this item simply is stating that it was never received, though the gift card is in his/her wallet. To send any form of cash, which all carriers will not insure for obvious reasons, needs additional care for security of which without liablity cannot be blamed on the particular carrier. A required signature on delivery would have solved the problem and should have been requested.

If the same effort was applied to common sense with Ebay transactions, or any shipment for that matter, this and many other problems would be avoided. To state "Always read the fine print this company are theives." is pure ignorance and reflects the reason this complaint was filed in the first place. Simple research the similar comments and complaints about all shipping companies including UPS, FEDEX, DHL, USPS (especially the postal service!), and you'll find equal and more complaints of the same nature.
