URBAN1, INC. I was sold a children's magazine subscription at my door. My check was cashed but never received magazine Saint Louis, Missouri

On August 7, 2012,  a young woman appeared at my door at dinnertime.  She gregariously expounded her hard luck story of needing a helping hand to get a fresh start on life and wanting to get out of the inner city so that she could gain an education and support herself.  She was selling magazine subscriptions at outrageous prices but assured me if I bought something she would receive benefit that would help her get out of her current living situation. She also showed me the names of many of my neighbors who wanted to help her and bought subscriptions to magazines from her. 

It has been more than five months now and I never received the magazine that I purchased for my grandchildren.  My check had been cashed in August so I attempted to contact someone with the number on the receipt but the number has been disconnected.  The web address did not yield an actual internet contact.  I am very upset that I allowed myself to be scammed.  As my husband says, "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, then shame on me."   I will not let this happen to me again and hopefully by filing this report, others can be spared.
