First of all, our departure flight left late. we arrived in Las Vegas and were supposed to board another flight to Atlanta. Unfortunately, we missed that flight THANKS TO USAIRWAYS. went to the customer service desk and the woman told us that the next flight out to ATL was 24 hours later. We were given no accomodations whatsoever except for a number to call for nearby hotels.
It was past 11 pm. my children and husband were tired. we stayed overnight at fairfield inn which was about 15 minutes away from the airport. the shuttle bus had to transport us back and forth.
The next day we were dropped off at the airport, checked in, waited for our flight. my daughter drank all her milk, had to go and look for some. resturants did not have any milk. they recommended going to starbucks. starbucks didn't have any. my kids slept on the floor. we waited until 11 pm to board the next flight. we still couldn't find any milk, so i asked the lady at the departure gate and she told me that she spoke to the airflight staff and made sure that me and my family be accomodated.
we boarded the plane shortly after and we were just relieved. we waited for our milk. no one came by. my husband politely asked one of the male flight attendants for a pint of milk. he said they didn't have any. we told him that we already spoke to the customer service rep at the departure gate and she said it wouldn't be a problem. he gives us a look, goes to the front. comes back and tosses the milk onto my husband's lap and says, "NEXT TIME YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN MILK!" and walked pass us!!!
i have already been irritated enough at the fact that we were stuck in Las Vegas THANKS TO USAIRWAYS. i was already irritated that we had to spend an extra night in LAS VEGAS and paid for our night there. and i was already irritated to see my children sleep on the floor in the Las Vegas airport. So to have this US AIRWAYS jerk give us an attitude and rudely throw the pint of milk at my husband as if we're some poor beggars who couldn't afford to get our own, I WAS PI**ED.
so i did exactly what anybody else would do if they were treated that way. I confronted the jack-a** in front of everyone and strangely, the coward couldn't even look at me!! the other flight attendant assured us that we would be given his name and employee id at the end of the flight. and afterwards when everyone left, we got up and approached the coward and he wrote his name on a piece of scratch paper and gave it to me and told me he wasn't allowed to give his employee id out. son of a b***h.
so i filed a complaint to FAA and USAIRWAYS and i two months down the line, i receive a BS letter of apology and complimentary drink/headphone coupons for my next flight with USAIRWAYS.
f*** you, USAIRWAYS.

making judgements when not there

I have had 2 unfortunate incidents with us ail lines and both were bad and included being ripped off (my checked luggage) and the same missed flight and lack of professional staff and accomodations that this woman experienced. It's a real drag when you pay to check your luggage, someone rifles through and steals your personal items, you spend an hour or so filing a claim, and then customer service makes you wait on the phone for twenty minutes while the customer service guy (From India?) talks to a so-called supervisor and then tells you they have no responsibility to pay your claim.
If there ever was a need for government regulations, this is it. They are as bad as wall street.
You cant hold the airline responsible because you didnt think ahead.

The "Milk" issue is just ridiculous. Go look at Terminal A and there's Burger King (24 Hours) Cinnabon, Mrs. Field's Cookie store, STARBUCKS plus others in just that terminal, which ALL sell milk. Are you telling me NONE of these places had milk? I just don't believe it, period.

#2 - To the comment about US Airways using contract workers. Where are you getting your information????? Most employees in customer contact positions at US Airways (with the exception of some cities) are employed by the airline (or one of its airline partners) not come contract company.

For the other contributor who suggested complaining to the City of Las Vegas, I need to clarify that the Las Vegas Airport is NOT in the city of Las Vegas. It is in CLARK COUNTY, and is regulated by the CLARK COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY.
FYI..Under the "travelers bill of rights' you were entitled to accomodations if it was the airports scheduling that caused you to miss your flight. However, you need to push the issue with a SUPERVISOR.
You can still file a claim with the airline for your expenses. You need to do this in writing and provide copies of reciepts, etc. CC it to the FAA.

yes, you're right about the connecting flights, but with what US AIRWAYS had already put us through, we didn't want to get stuck in phoenix or any other connecting cities, especially during the holidays when most flights are delayed anyways. we preferred overnight so our children would sleep throughtout most of the flight.
i still have the free headphone/complimentary drink coupons if anybody wants to use it on their next flight with USAIRWAYS. :)

Anyway I gave up on USAIR years ago. As someone said at a gate after a cancelled flight - "USAIR doesn't begin with U. You is the second word"
