A tornado in March of 2011 knocked down all our trees, flooded the basement, and left us without power for a week. All in all, we were lucky to have suffered so little damage compared to some of our neighbors.

Nationwide insurance sent a rep out within a few days and cut a check. It was less than I would have liked, but at least they were there when we needed them. The rep was friendly, and took a few extra moments to understand our damages. As far as insurance companies go, I would recommend them.

The bulk of the claim included US BANK as a payee ,which is understandable considering the mortgage.

This is where the nightmare begins ! US BANK has requested an endless stream of forms. Forms about forms. Forms explaining their use and need for forms. Forms requesting more specific forms. I have a folder an inch and a half thick of all the required forms.

I thought that maybe a visit to the US BANK local branch would help to expedite things. Not so much. I was given a phone number, and told "good luck dealing with that department".

1 year later, more requests for forms, more "inspections", which they CHARGE ME FOR !!, and still trying to get them to pay out the insurance money that I payed for. The last "inspection" reported a 90% completion of work, and STILL waiting for pay-out.

I'm 40. I have dealt with bad customer service and survived. I know large companies have a set of standards to meet, and that my individual needs won't trump their standard operating practices.

All that being said, I have NEVER been treated so poorly, and with so much disregard. Not by any company, ever.

The tornado was bad, US BANK has been so much worse than that.

You Have a Remedy

AUTHOR: Weisslaw - (United States of America)

The problem you are descibing appears to be widespread.  You are the second U.S. Bank customer whose homeowners claim turned into a fee fest for the lender.  I am researching the potential legal remedies for people in your situation with a group of lawyers who go after lenders that treat their customers so egregiously.
