Assuming that you could prove deliberation (which would be next to impossible), this wouldn't even qualify as a misdemeanor.
Your original contract with your local bank is what applies to your loan (unless you signed a new one with U.S. Bank). If there is no fee for dropping escrow on that contract, they can't charge you. But, it doesn't have to be stated that specifically. If there is mention that the bank may charge (non-specific) fees for changes to the loan, it could conceivable be covered under that. You'll need to carefully read your contract and even then, you might need some professional help to interpret it.
