Hah, I have nothing good to say about them either.  I know what it is to edure the possibility of being stranded during orientation.  No, I did not ask if they ship ya back home. But i did ask the recruiter after discussing bus ticket if there was anything else i need to know or to have.  Anyway,  unfortanately I was hired.  They put me in an old truck that had such a bad air leak, when at backhauls i had to keep building up pressure to avoid knobs from popping out.  had it in a shop 3 times, then found out the break pedal was so rusty, the truck stop mechanic said its a wonder you havent lost your break pedal yet.  I understand your breaks work on air not discs, but ahh,,going down a steep highway with litlle to no breaks was not fun and my last draw.  I got the truck back thinking it was fixed.  Like come on, I was trained in school to check all your maintenance issues gauges and so on during pretrip but ahh, im not a mechanic...well lol and behold i was hit head on by an oncoming car at 70 mph and the seat belt did not hold me in the seat.  i was badly injured,,hah,,then told in the particular state, not able to sue my employer.  i probably wouldnt have gotten hurt so bad..had the seatbelt worked properly, oh not to mention i was told after the accident the air bag didnt come out because they were disconnected purposely for malfunctioning on drivers.  The truck was a "trade truck" apparently sitting in the parking lot at the terminal missing all kinds of stuff.  They literally had to put it back together.  They should be held responsible for my injury along with the third party, but because of these stupid laws, it protects employers from just about everything and anything.  Sad..!  The word about UsXpress should be spread widely that they are a terrible outfit to work for..and do not care at all about the phrase"safety first"  what a joke.

It is outrageous what U.S. Xpress did to you Christine! They are a Rogue trucking company that steam-rolls over the top of good employees and recruits!
The way I see it, the money you put out, was money well spent, because the faster you get away from the Crude that runs U.S. Xpress the better off you are!

U.S Xpress is a disgrace to the trucking industry and should not be allowed to conduct business. They hire real scum to recruit drivers by lying to them just to fill up their classrooms.
I sat in orientation and watched good drivers walk out and others being dismissed for reasons that U.S. Xpress refused to be explained to them. One older couple that I befriended left orientation early and went back to their old company, when I asked them why they were leaving, the Older fellow stated, he would rather retire than work for a company like U.S. Xpress!
The people trying to do damage control here on Rip-off report are most likely upper management or in recruiting who don't want the truth to be known about the armpit called U.S. Xpress Inc. On the third day I turned in my materials and told them good riddens. After talking with current employees and all the drivers emptying out their trucks saved me alot of grief..
To all the drivers reading this, getting ready for U.S. Xpress Orientation....shame on you, you were warned: No Excuses!

The actual intent of orientation is to DISQUALIFY YOU!!! Your head is out for the axing. So what do you do to be prepared to STAY ALIVE & GET HIRED. One is ask as many questions to the recruiter as possible and in our industry. ASK A DRIVER but remember as many good deals are as many bad. The downside of trucking is A. its not always sweet and B. you have to go with the flow and remain positive and open to what becomes available. Your lifting 48# over your head should have been done before you showed up to Orientation. The company does not want you to know what is what as its all a surprise to reactions to your discourse is metered by shrewed invasive observation. Everything a recruit does is noticed. smiles, frowns, eyes rolling, sighs, retorts,cursing,clothes/attire.makeup.tattoos, In the Orientation and off at the hotels. yes we are watching YOU! always. we let you go out and hang your selfs. most of all Christine,you are not on this level as you where axed as something was red flagged. you won't know what but i can assure you it wasn't the 48# Plus. you need good positive excuses. You lifted your bags into the overhead and someones bag fell out hurting your arm or elbow. etc. any good company will allow you to do a makeover the next day. Remember YOU are YOUR own maker and breaker. BE POSITIVE/ALERT and PROFESSIONAL! You are going to represent the company in which you are trying to be hired on to, so MAKE AN IMPRESSION from the start that exudes what you will be after they give you the keys and set off to their customers. SELL yourself! Everyone else is competition! You are going to driver be in command of a 80,000 pound killing machine! Thats how we view it. Destruction beyond anything else on the highways and byways on our nations public transportation grids. WE ARE THE PROFESIONALS. IT TAKES alot of control and quality personal attitudes to circumvent the many obsticals and challenges that will arise in every minute, hour, daily, driving and customer relations that positivity set you and US Xpress form all the others that try to equal our performance and virtues. Christine try again in 6mo's. keep positive! US Xpress is a great company bar none! I've been driving 28 yrs. 3-million safe miles. Plus 3 years with this awesome company! I have had my problems as anyone will. but there as always been someone to talk to as US Xpress as the door is always open. My FM's have been good and not so great but changes in a positive way. I now have a Fed-Ex Dedicated run two days a week making more then I did OTR. 28 days out! At US Xpress there are opportunities that allow for streamlining from the start of your career. Many get the best runs right out of orientation, all you have to do is ASK! Have a list of your needs, how many days, out,how many miles, unloading or drop n hook. dedicated lanes. you may have to move for that special run but if you can its worth the move. I did and i'm on a 10 year Fed-EX run. Easy money.easy run. many get the sweet right off by being in the right place or work up to it. We Train you to be the best drivers on the road. Quality safe up to date Equipment. Online everything. toll free numbers and hey you can even contact Max our owner and he gets things done! The worst thing anyone can say in this company is "I GOING TO QUIT!" as it's goodbye. happy trails, TOO many want that seat! I've always said " I will fight for my existence" truly it shocked them. But it says volumes that a driver needs to be assertive to the positive and open to the possibilities. I can assure you US Xpress is that company! Hopefully you'll come back and retry. Get your game on know what you want and know what to ask up front. if they don't know it. ask the dept's that are over the issues. US Xpress has values and is an outstanding company to represent with every customer, around every corner, at every terminal, and at home. It begins with YOU as US Xpress is what they SEE! A lot of that depends on the customer to call back for more service is YOU! most of all. Remember YOU are quality. grade A! or you would not be here!

I have been driving for 10 years and I have NEVER heard of a company that will not give you a bus ticket back home if they decide not to hire you... NEVER. well until now, and that is completly unacceptable to leave someone stranded I don't care what the reason is. Even if the person completely falsified their application (and I'm saying this only as an extreme example) then the company should have done a better job of verifying information before bringing them to orientation.

when you got the PRE-hire did YOU ask them if you didn't get the job how would you get home... NO you didn't

you will be hard pressed to fine any trucking company that will pay YOUR way home if you don't get hired.
